I’m surprised that CAA worked off their private server for this. I'm no expert but surely they could have done it via a proxy server to avoid precisely this outcome. The LAT story quoted Michael Mand, the Head of Corporate Communications at CAA and hence a pretty big fish. But then one of the best books about Hollywood was called “Which lie did I tell?” If it was someone who works at CAA but CAA aren’t behind it, maybe we’ll get a concrete denial this week. Or maybe not. I’m going with CAA being involved. |

Either a red herring or CAA came onboard later in the game, not from the beginning. Why would a professional organization such as their's wait an entire three months to file for trademark registration and use a Joe Schmo attorney? Read my intro and you'll see how I speak of new evidence can't always be viewed in the same way as before.

I have many questions about the CAA connection as reported in the LA Times.
1) How did the three fans give proof of the IP address to the LA Times? A screenshot? A text file? If so, did the reporter just take their word for it that this evidence of the IP wasn't faked? Is there any other way they could've provided evidence? If not, the implication is that I could call the LA Times and say that I tracked a myspace message from LG15 to an IP address that I then traced to Afghanistan (*gasp* I knew bin laden was involved somehow) and provide a fake screenshot. They wouldn't print the story, but why not? What am I missing (other than my mind)?
2) This may be a dumb question, but if the IP trace to CAA's server is in fact accurate, does that mean for certain that the computer being used is physically in the CAA offices? Could it possibly be in someone's residence? I don't know enough about how IPs work.
3) Re: the total lack of response from Bree and Daniel to the LA Times article. Here are the possibilites as I see them.
a) Bree is real and she neither confirms nor denies the CAA connection because letting us know would lead us closer to her.
b) Bree is fake and she neither confirms nor denies the CAA connection because letting us know would lead us closer to her.
Looks like a dead end. Help!

The proof was not only given, but the exact methods used to lure the crew into setting off the trap were also fully detailed. |

I'm pretty sure I went into it in the LA Times thread, but a tracker was setup on a myspace page, a comment was sent, she responded and the tracker got her IP address within seconds of her leaving the comment. There were no other hits at all on the page for a 17 hour period. And it was a account on myspace setup purely to get her attention. The IP address retrieved was the one posted in the other thread.
Also, if you read the article, every agency in LA denied involvment EXCEPT for the CAA.

You're describing the reported methods of how they got the IP, but I'm talking about how the fans claim might have been authenticated. To clarify the distinction I'm making, to use my earlier example: I tell you that I set up a myspace page of a fake kid named "Seth," sent LG15 a message, she sent me one back, and I used tracking software to grab her IP, then tracked her IP to Afghanistan. That's just my claim, I have no proof to back that up as far as you are concerned.
Just because CAA didn't deny it, that doesn't prove anything except that they aren't aversed to being associated with it at this point. They might come out and deny it later if somehow bad publicity is associated with the videos.

I'm never going to come out and deny it. We had three people who never knew each other before that weekend and we all verified each others work and agreed that it was valid before we contacted the LAT. Why did we contact the LAT? Because none of us are from LA and we wanted a local resource who could do the legwork to track down the leads.
With as much smoke that has surrounded this entire series, I understand your quest for proof. But I really just don't feel like putting together a press release for something that is already in motion.

BTW, i called CAA saturday and asked for "lonelygirl15." The woman didn't know of her, so I asked for Bree. Bree was not known, so she asked for a last name. I had none to give.

But I really just don't feel like putting together a press release for something that is already in motion. Woops, I didn't notice at first that you are one of those quoted in the article. I also didn't notice until now that the story actually made the front page of the LAT. These two facts make me more of a believer in the story. Sorry, you were right, there's just so much smoke, it's easy to get lost. |

I'm very torn on this. My friend told me that IP addresses are easy to fake. But then why point it to a company as big as CAA?
On the flip side why would a corporation as big as CAA be so slack as to let their IP address be traced?
Unless it is, as many have suggested, someone working for them. This may explain the fact the they have neither confirmed or denied it as if the people at the top wern't aware of it and have been presented with proof such as the IP address, surely they will need to carry out their own internal investigations before making an exact statement?
