hyemew - it wasn't john green who sent v that email "by mistake" it was a vg developer named joe bourrie. jg was just asking v about the text of the developer's email.

Way creepy.
This completely reminds me of Blair Witch.
I wouldn't be surprised if that noisy background was actually from the movie.
Plus Blair Witch ended the same way, there was all this industrial noise that got louder, then sudden silence.
1. It's a game and it's from the Cassie character (actually Bree but in her split-personality "Cassie" mode?) 2. It's someone external trying to make this into a game (this would be the first REAL signal from the creators, which would be pretty late). 3. "t" found his Mom's microcassette recorder and decided to have some fun.

Skype is an interesting idea. Why not involve all the new technology? Maybe I'll see if Cassiestruggles18 or breesnuggles15--that's it, right?--are on Skype. Anyone want to join me?

1) I don’t think it is real, but that is just a gut feeling. 2) I think this might be the case and that our good friend Brian Flemming is the one that sent it around. 3) If it is t or a similar fraudster at least they are putting some real effort into their deception this time.

Damn, I don't know how to forward the audio file except to get people to go to the hushmail site, and now I guess that link has been burned. I wonder who entered the wrong password? Someone who didn't like everyone getting their hands on it? qui bono, as they say in the law - who benefits?

OK this is defo the last sound edit that i am doing for now, with a better compression ,Incidently the original was not on standard .AVI,and reads from 00000 to 66608 data bits, which leads me to suspect a hoax, why not put it in mp3 or mpg, which would have been more likely? media.putfile.com/cassmp3sorry bout earlier post.....lost my concentration:=} hmmm, i only get the first couple of seconds on that one...

Two things: 1. Is it not possible that Flemming did this, but nothing before it? I think Flemming's denials were genuine, but then he got fascinated by the lg15 community, and by the idea of "community problem solving," and decided to make a game out of it. (It is possible that his denials weren't genuine, and he's been behind it the whole time, but it's better-scripted than most of this stuff. 2. Flemming insists on his blog, "It's not about the girl. It's about the game." But, to me anyway, it IS about the girl (or, rather, the game is not what-horror-movie-awaits, but rather who is behind this and why they're doing it. Whoever created this can be disappointed that we're not playing the game s/he wants us to play, but it's his/her own fault that the mystery of authorship is in this particular case infinitely more compelling than the mystery of Bree as a character. I think, in fact, that if we figured out the mystery of authorship, the game of the story's plot would become more interesting to us and a lot of us would hang around to try to figure it out. But until then, the story (for us, and for newspapers, and for everyone) will be who-is-she-really, not what's-going-to-happen-to-her-fakely. -John www.sparksflyup.com

John, that is exactly what I've been thinking! I think finding out who Bree & Daniel are is a HUGE part of this mystery (at least the mystery for us). As I said in a previous post, like in Law & Order...we need a body.
Which is why I enjoyed analyzing pictures. I wonder where we can get pictures of headshots?? (I'll look into this)

re: the audio file
Via my own audio analysis on the original file (thanks for posting, passer inassatus!), I'm getting:
"I'm scared" "by the danielbeast" "it's him" or "I'm scared" "spak(?) back the beast" "can't see him" or some combination thereof.
Terryfic: Just comparing notes here. I think I may be going about it a bit differently than you. I'm using Cool Edit Pro and making a concious effort not to use the noise reduction functions. While your version seems to have isolated the frequencies very well, it sounds like quite a bit of reverb was added. (This is probably due to the smoothing functions these sorts of filters apply in an effort to reduce the inevitable "glitchiness" obtained after applying the subtraction function.) So, I'm definitely not getting as much of the background noise out as you are, though I hope I'm sacrificing that for a sharper sound with less 'verb. I'm using strictly graphic eq's to cut out everything but vocals (roughly 300 Hz to 5kHz or so) and punch up the vowels (< 1000Hz) since that's really what I'm having trouble with. Consonants are coming through pretty well, I think.
I'll post a version later tonight when I have more time to work on it with better equipment.
Right now, I'm seriously doubting the validity of this "clue". Someone who was just particularly clever could have registered the yahoo e-mail account upon knowing LG's yahoo account. (BTW, Virginia, how sure are we that the yahoo account is actually associated with at least one party behind the videos? Sorry if I missed this somewhere else on the board.)
EDIT: permutation -> combination
