I'm not talking about poverty -- I'm just saying "not wealthy." She said in one of her comments that people in her town only care about making money. It's consistent behavior with someone who is "not wealthy," surrounded by preppy wealthy kids, and perhaps a little jealous/sensitive about it.

That definitely looks like the inside of a modern, cheapo apartment building. Observation about hair. I have noticed that since they started including up-to-date clues (RS mag, referencing comments), Bree has been doing interesting things with her hair. Bree the Cookie Monster - hair tied back. A Change In My Life - hair tied back with a scrunchie, covered with a do-rag and some swept forward on her left shoulder. Poor Pluto - hair held back with a thingamajig, visible at 00:23. Also, does her hair seem lighter to anyone else now? I think it's possible that Cookie Monster marked the beginning of a new set of videos, with the old ones shot before it.

Bree's analogy of Pluto to herself in high school makes me think of a possible meta-analogy. Her videos are getting lots of attention, and she doesn't like these new friends/ peer group. The allegations about her fakeness are reflected in her classmates' taunts about being with the teacher. (Maybe the teacher is the Producer!?) But if she stops asking questions, then I guess the parallel is she stops making videos. I feel she provides a subtle directive (threat?) that she will stop if the taunts continue. Now what about "Dont have rings"? (Married teacher?) Subtle analysis. Sometimes LG15 seems very authored, sometimes improv. In the Neanderthal vid I can see the authorship coming from 'Bree', but here maybe it's coming from the other side of the camera. Still, I think Poor Pluto = Poor Me. And she had a really good prop.

Well time to add my 2 cents. First about teasing in high school I was teased and rumored to be doing something with one of my teachers I know it can really get on your nerves. Thing was she was my neighbor I cut her grass babysat her son she helped me with schoolwork but that was it sure she was very attractive and I guess all guys going through puberty would just see that one angle not that we were old friends before I was even in high school and she was one of my teachers. It got so bad the principle called us in to ask us if it was true LOL how I am so glad high school is over with. Second I see she has dawned black socks for this video guess the dirty feet comments got to her. Third as far as jewelry goes only the simple gold band she wore in I think the lonelybeast video ?? Has been the only time we have seen her with any kind on.

Re poverty, I live in a University town and there are a lot of people here who live outwardly shabby lives, in a very middle class sort of a way. Actually they're fairly wealthy, but tend to vote left, and to some extent they live left as well. They spend money on non-showy things; interesting holidays, theatre trips etc. and books. Their houses tend to be full of books. Where are Bree's books?

My two cents on Pharaohweb's observation:
FYI, the sped-up bit says "around here, we orbit the sun in a perfect circle, or we don't orbit at all."
That's interesting: planets moving in perfect circles is a scientifically outdated view, I think Aristotelian. Kepler observed that this isn't true, as stated in his first law of planetary motion: planets move in elliptical orbits.
It hightlights the bundle of contradictions that is our dear li'l Bree: love of Feynmann mixed with passion for her own religion, interest in science combined with an attempt at refuting the theory of evolution (Daniel the Neanderthal), etc.
The sped-up bit also seems to carry the Bree-Pluto analogy further. Bree will only hang in a perfect circle (of friends). A nice and subtle analogy, in the same vein as "My Lazy Eye". Perhaps this episode is a lead-in to the Cassie sub-plot?

Re the poorness. I asked why you think she is poor? What made you come to this conclusion? Maybe she has little personal things as she has moved a lot during her short time in the world? You said that I was talking utter shit. You didn't ask why I thought she was not from a wealthy family. One reason we left the old forum was to get away from that sort of unproductive conversation. I don't want this to become a class warfare thing, but I offer the following pieces of evidence -- none of it in anyway conclusive -- but merely evidence that is out there, and worth cataloging. Again, much of this comes from the architect thread in the old forum (which now has 200 threads, and i couldn't find this one). Her room has cheap hardwood flooring, or maybe even laminate, you can get a good glimpse of it in the Grillz video. The walls of the house are in good condition. The corners are plumb. The walls appear unblemished. This is characteristic only of an apartment. Newer homes are seldom built with cheap hardwood flooring in the bedroom. Even cheap hardwood is more expensive than carpeting -- a builder wants to keep costs down. But maintenance of hardwood or laminate is cheaper -- an apartment owner wants to keep maintenance costs down. But, even if it's an apartment, maybe since her folks move around a lot, they rent. The LA area is brutally expensive -- not the sort of place you'd buy a house in 2004, if you were thinking of moving. But, look at Bree's room. Nothing is expensive. Her clothes, tank tops and jeans mostly, are cute and stylish, but not exactly couture. The decor is mostly Target. She does not wear jewelry. Her computer monitor is a CRT. Her Edward Hopper picture is unframed. So, I was merely observing, that there's nothing that points to wealth. Yes, this is consistent with it being a college student production, this is consistent with a transient family that is unwealthy, and, yes, this is sorta consistent with a family that is just austere. Ok so you make a good point about the laminated floor in the bedroom. Is there any clips where we can see if it continues out in to the hall?

I can see eg drquest's post that the High School/teacher thing will have resonance for many people.
I overlooked sthg else: it's Daniel (scissors) who cuts Pluto (Bree) free.
I didn't see it mentioned earlier.

<< I think it's possible that Cookie Monster marked the beginning of a new set of videos, with the old ones shot before it. >> Terryfic points out in another post that her July 20, 2006 video used music that was released on July 13.
<< planets moving in perfect circles is a scientifically outdated view...planets move in elliptical orbits. ...It hightlights the bundle of contradictions that is our dear li'l Bree >> Well, it KINDA depends on how you look at it. The entire reason why there was any question as to whether or not Pluto could still be considered a planet was HOW elliptical its orbit is. Its so elliptical that its orbit overlaps with the orbit of some of the other planets; since their obits are more circular, Pluto takes the blame for being the one to butt his path in where it doesn't belong, hehe.

Remember her play involved her getting into an argument with her teacher, I’m sure the two are unrelated, but you never know.

<< I overlooked sthg else: it's Daniel (scissors) who cuts Pluto (Bree) free. >> That's interesting. About Pluto breaking away from the planets with rings, maybe Bree's only friends before Daniel were really just her parents' friends. Daniel was her first true friend and introduced her to YouTube, a circle of many more friends who are, perhaps, mostly young and unwed.

Been much noticed. This vid has a lot of feedback to viewer comments. Ie as mentioned the decision to wear socks.

"Stargirl" is the screenname of a sporadic poster on the haxan.com forums. www.haxan.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=259;sa=showPostsShe's also the sister of Neal Fredericks, the DP on "The Blair Witch Project." I'm almost positive Mike Monello of Haxan said something to me about her when we were discussing lg15. I think the Stargirl reference, like much of the "Lonelygirl Press Conference," is Brian Flemming's shout-out to others in the unfiction/ARG community, who may or may not be involved. I also think it might be Flemming's voice in the "Lonelygirl Press Conference." Has someone else said this? Or heard him speak and can double-check?
