Found this on the 20 most subscribed youtube channels of the week. The account's only 4 days old with 2 videos, but already has tons of comments, the majority of which are screaming "FAKE!" or saying something like "the next LonelyGirl15?" youtube.com/profile?user=NoHoGirlsPeople are clearly more sensitive to authenticity in the wake of LG, and these videos immediately set off alarm bells. It's too bad, cause I might have enjoyed believing this one was real for a while, and I'm still gullible enough that I might have believed it if it weren't for the comments. Still, this might be of interest if it shapes up to have a good story. She gives a link to her myspace, which also appears to have been just recently created. Looking at her friends on there, the first few I clicked all had some link or friend related to "Soup of the Day." On wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soup_of_the_DayIt says the director was this guy: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_ZakarinNote the last line: "Zakarin's work also is a building block in the development of Alternate reality games." If this gets popular, and people start asking who's behind this, I want to go on record saying my money is on Zakarin. Thoughts on any of this?

Watched the first video. I think it is pants. Not going to touch LG. There's no quirkyness or anything, just a hawt girl on a bed. Sorry but it dosen't do it for me.

Man! This is clearly a copycat LG15! They've tweaked it a bit to look less formal, but no WAY is this real. It's worth viewing these 2 videos just to see how they are playing the game. - she sounds very scripted, but less scripted than bree - she's good looking - she is dropping plot lines already (she is an artist, is turning 21 in the 1st video, but her dad may not send her a card, in 2nd video she talks about a grave with her name on it, a young girl also died at 21). - she encourages you to message her - she includes myspace link on her page - she's doing this "for a year if she can keep it up" - who plans in advance? I have to say that the venom in the youtube comment threads (for bree, these nohogirls, and lucyinLA) is just sad. Every male on YouTube hopped up on steriod supplements and nonstop pron watching should be shut off from commenting. milowent.blogspot.com/2006/09/nohogirls-new-lonelygirl15.html

Cool find! Thanks for sharing. It's so funny that the YT guys cannot get over the fake thing, and even when it is so obvious they still feel they are expressing something profound posting the comment. *yawn*
The actual clips were kinda boring, din't you think? I mean, if we have to listen to her drone on about making it in the art world, I think I'd rather get a tooth or two pulled instead for fun factor.
I think the success of LG lies a lot in the quirkiness and the fun. Some of it might be script, but I think a lot lies in Jessica being goofy, pulling faces, and just really having good timing.
I'll keep watching but not really doing it for me.

Yessss. I agree. This girl was just trying hard to be impromtu and talk normally. It was drab. She takes herself too seriously, or something. And she's not as pretty as Bree.

That last video (where she didn't get her stuff shown) was just plain HORRIBLE. Like, really bad acting. Embarrassing acting! Sheesh!
I think she's fugly. Way too bony and ugly face (kinda horse like).
No way is this disaster another lonelygirl15!

yeah, its a pale imitation of the original. that last video is sad -- it doesn't really pretend to be a vblog at all - crying outside on some street with someone else obviously holding the camera . .. . LOL that was just horrible. There aren't even any tears to back up that horrible make up job that tries to pass for crying eyes. Bleh go away.

Don't even give it the honor of being called another LonelyGirl. It's absurd, dumb, stupid and they're trying too hard.

It's funny, in one of the earlier clips you can hear somebody give directions ... urgh. I mean, I don't mind if it's scripted, but this series has 0 story. Why should people care about the characters, I mean ... this is a fictional series about people who would be kinda fake if they were real. *yawn*

All I'm saying is that it may suck, but it got over 1,000 subscribers in one week. I'm not saying it's another LG in terms of quality, cause it's not, as everyone has pointed out. I'm just saying after the LG mediastorm people said we would probably see more faux-vlog miniseries or whatever you want to call the genre, and lo and behold, here is the first one that I know of, and it's climbing the charts, even with people knowing it's fake from the start. As for it having no plot, it's only been a week. They are just establishing the characters, one of whom told us that she "hosts an internet show about ghost sitings." No such show is found with a quick google search (cause it's fiction!), but c'mon...you can bet that's gonna come into play. The cameraman is identified as Eddie, the boyfriend of one of the roomates, it's not like they're pretending that no one is holding the camera. I feel like I'm in the position of defending this show, but oh well, so what if I am? It is annoyingly transparent in its fakeness, but I still have curiousity as to where they are heading with it.

I think that so far, its "Plot? What Plot?" randomness and slice-of-life quality is rather charming. I also suspect that like LucyinLA, it isn't entirely fiction but draws on anecdotes which really happened to the writers. Hard to say whether the two girls are writing it themselves or whether they are just delivering the scripts someone else wrote.

Every male on YouTube hopped up on steriod supplements and nonstop porn watching should be shut off from commenting. Actually, when I saw this, my gut instinct was "viral marketing for a new porn site." Now, I didn't leave any nasty comments, because I could be wrong. But, just hypothetically, what if a porn studio did try something like that? What would be the appropriate response from the YouTube community?

What would be the appropriate response from the YouTube community? I would assume they would all dutifully comment 'Fake!' then sign up and check out the goods. I doubt this would be that kinda campaign, but it won't be for long before we see that.
