Is it me, or is she using some of the Breester's (patent pending) Quirky Mannerisms? She is more likable (maybe it's the Breeness) in this one.

As for the vid itself, I'm not quite sure how it moved the story along... I hope they are using her as filler so that the our intrepid duo can have some time off from shooting.

I guess I will state the obvious plot line: Bree and Daniel will come to "London", fleeing from the cult, to live with her after Gemma kicks out her flatmates. I dunno, but it fits Yousef's MS message and the finger pointing on the globe he did a couple of vids ago.

I kind of hate her a lot. Her acting's unsufferable. The best part of her videos is the still frame before you press play, just because she's pretty.

Yeah, I don't really like the character and find the acting quite terrible. But from a narrative point of view I hope they allow her to become a real character and start to add in some parallel storylines. Despite its name Bree shouldn't be the center of the breeniverse, there should be other stories going on.

I want to like her, but everything just seems way too rehearsed, and some of the videos just seem to be trying too hard.

I agree that she really used some of Bree's mannerisms, the face up close to the camera, and it was edited just like Bree's videos.

This isn't Gemma bashing, I really want to like her videos, but something just doesn't sit right with them.

I think many of the bree mannerisms might just be typical of vlogs in general. Agreed that editing and direction could change up a bit though. She is a different personality right? That fact that her videos looked so much like Bree's made her seem like she was part of the story when they first appeared. Now that she's canon, she can maybe have a bit of her own vlog style.

The argument thing was cool.

Of course, the idea that she hasn't seen Bree's last two videos is just rubbish.

Having just watched the video, I think Gemma has turned BLATANTLY into Bree. Same exact mannerisms and behavior. This Gemma was MUCH different than the Gemma of the first three videos, and her new behavior actually made her more likeable. However I believe this is part of a concerted effort to make Gemma more Bree-like, and therefore more likeable (which I admit has worked), that makes me NOT like her still haha. Since now she's just a poser.
I disagree trash with your assertion that Bree's mannerisms are typical of vlogs in general. No, they are cute and overexaggerated, and has a sort of je ne sais quas which makes it stand out from the average vlogger. Since these mannerisms are rather unique to Bree, the fact that gemma suddenly took them on in the latest video is quite apparent.

so, any chance her bree-esque mannerisms are plot-related? Don't ask me how, I'm not a writer (or, make that, not a good one, lol) I sort of chalk up all the not-quite-right aspects of the plot to being plot relevant/foreshadowing. I expect all my WTFs to be explained when the shiznit hits the fan. I guess that comes from too much Harry Potter, where every cough is foreshadowing something.

The editing style is the same cause they have the same editor in real life. I just think it's funny, like an inside joke.
As for her "forced" acting. It's shaped by the editing. All three characters' videos use the same technique of having a cut after almost every sentence. Sometimes they will say the first part of a line, pause slightly, then cut to an extreme close-up of the last part of the line.
Example: the first five seconds of this vid.
"Bree, I haven't heard from you in a few days...*looks away* *cut to extreme close-up* "Hope everything's okay."
It's unnatural and disjointed not so much because of the performance but because of the editing. Or their performance could've still been bad, but you can't really tell one way or the other because it's so chopped up.
They use the sudden close-up thing a lot to try to punctuate things. Sometimes a punchline, sometimes a plot point. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

alright. first off. I said 'unsufferable' instead of 'insufferable' that's pretty gross, someone should have corrected me. Second of all, i'm secretly but not so secretly honored to be quoted by THE hyemew, third of all, maybe it's not her acting that I should hate. maybe it's her "I'm hot and i know it attitude", maybe it's the fact that I can't relate to or believe a hot college(?) student would call her roommates demonic beasts for not making their beds, maybe I don't believe the character in general because if she were real i would not want to be friends with her because she's mad whiny and always look like she's about to cry and/or pose for a camera and her apartments ugly and those have got to be friggin contacts.

gemma's gotta go! or fulfill some sort of purpose and be on with it.

Lastly, I don't really mind that they're shooting it like bree because I see it as more of production quirk than a bree quirk. Kind of like what smashing was saying, that it's in the editing. I see it as more of it's every actress in the show. My example! Actresses deliver lines in scrubs in a similiar way, but way different than they would in grey's anatomy...Catch my drift? That's misleading and I'm sure someone will have something to say to dispute that and to you, whoever you may be, I say in advance: I don't care!
