I think the experimental storytelling project LG15 most closely resembles is Mark Danielewski's novel House of Leaves. This link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_leaves gives a great deal of information about the publishing history and deeply-nested mysteries, allusions, and "purposeful mistakes" within. Portions of Danielewski's novel were also originally "published" in segments in a grassroots fashion on the internet. A lot of the early fans were exposed only to Johnny Truant's editing of Zampano's film-theory exploration of the mysterious Navidson videos, and there was lot of interest in finding those videos. Johnny's writings were only gradually exposed as fictional based on deliberate "mistakes" made in the early release. Lonelygirl15 isn't as rich a project as Danielewski's work, but it seems to me to be unfolding along the same lines.
