I've been watching some of the great old Bree videos (and enjoying the couple of comments which are listed there left over from the pre-reveal days) and it makes me think- the comments from before the reveal are about how they wonder what will happen and how wrapped up they are in Bree and her life, while the ones written after are usually along the lines of "sigh, I miss these days".
A big issue has been getting Bree's fans back and getting her new ones, but in my opinion it's not easy to get people into lonelygirl in mid-stream. If you were new to her and went to her site and watched the video up, you'd see some entertaining banter in their room (so this might not be the best example) but then you'd see them running from who knows what. You'd be even more confused than we were about it, and we actually knew what was going on.
I think it is early Bree, starting the story off on the ground floor, which really brings people in, but if you go to the webpage those are buried way down at the bottom of a list you have to press an hour 100 times to get to. If you go to youtube account, same thing, they are many pages back. I feel some of her best material is languishing unappreciated and unable to bring in new people.
I think we should think of creative ways of packaging the originial story and getting it out there again. I'm quite aware we can't just change the website and start having old ones on the front page again, but I think it's problematic that it's so hard for a new fan to find her original episodes and actually get captured by them. You just aren't going to get captured by most movies if you start watching in the middle, and you aren't going to be able to enjoy LG fully by starting now.
Is there any way we can create a high profile way to expose internet users in an easy way to the beginning of this story all over again and bring some more in that way?
I am very aware of Terry's recaps and think they were something great, however I'm not talking about an easy way to catch fans up on the old stuff, I mean a place to confront them with each early episode where they can see the whole thing and fall in love with the series just like the original fans. This would be as a way to hopefully bring in more fans as the early episodes did, in hopes they will become active fans with what's going on now as well.
