Its irritating me to no end.
Even if there isn't a new video when I click on the site its still fun to check, now I feel like furiously refreshing until the site is back up.
Perhaps this has something to do with my boyfriend leaving to go home and me being bored and at a loose end at 1.30am but I am obsessively refreshing at this stage and it sucks.

This is all true.
I was thinking more of my own personal boredom/procrastination of physics writeup but those are really good points.
Although maybe the server is out of their hands, if they are relying on the new host company to get it up and running.

Yeah...it really should been seemless, unless they're trying to drive the audience in some way. I don't get it. Is this going to be a grand reveal of some sort. Is this for anticipation? Phorum's down too. Nothing, but a letter to lgpedia people to get to work on a "story so far" section...to be finished by tomorrow (11/20).
So they're trying to be ready for the impending rush by doing these upgrades and handing out homework, but the site is down and so is the phorum...

If the site looks exactly the same when its back up everyone is going to be ever so slightly deflated.

Business as usual, and yet they keep their popularity. One has to wonder how easy this will be for a "Big Media' company when they get a project up and running. Can you imagine what Joss Whedon could do with this medium!!!

the official site is at least partially back up -click the "here" link that appears , am checking out now to see if anything is new. there is some new registration thing on the main video page. EDIT link i followed: www.lonelygirl15.com/?p=111&play=1Gemma (see post below) can get in yet - i bet there are still some bugs being worked out. - the "member directory" tab now links to a list of registrants. this is a relatively small list (i just registered as #57). each registrant can make a profile page. - explanatory post by jsmith at the phorum (none of these upgrades seem very radical to me): ----------- jsmith Lead Programmer Joined: 06 Nov 2006 Posts: 12 Posted: Mon Nov 20, 2006 3:33 am Post subject: Server Move Complete & New Features -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have successfully moved over all the data to a new, better server and released a bunch of new features! I really hope those emails are something that you have to opt in for, cause otherwise I am so not signing up.
I also don't really understand why you have to sign up again, are they not using the forum accounts? Or will you have to sign in to leave a comment and then sign in again to talk on the forum? And if that is the case I assume these new private messages aren't linked with the forum private messages and that just seems confusing. Since the site isn't working for me right this moment I guess I shall just have to wait and see the logistics of these upgrades.

Wow do you realize that in that list of new upgrades, the Cove already has just about every single one of those things? Was that really worth over a day of downtime? jsmith is evil.

EDIT: and the email notification for new vids appears to be an opt in feature.

They appear to be completely unlinked. It's kinda amazing. In order to fully participate you're supposed to have an LGPedia account, a phorum account, a Lonelygirl15.com account and a revver.com account -- at minimum.
What a tedious burden to put on their fans. I'm trying to think if I even know of another site that requires four passwords to participate.
