She's far more likeable in this one, but I really really think that's because she's coming at us from a vulnerable, humble vantage. Just kind of letting it all out, not really appearing to be reading off a script. I really think it does have to do with the actress speaking much more freely because it's based on real events, not crap she had to memorize verbatim. Unlike the language learning or other things, she really is getting bad comments and people really are criticizing her. No need to act that, she feels it for real and most people who aren't even actors should be able to make a convincing "apologia" episode speaking from the heart like that. I highly doubt that section was scripted, just had some direction as what to say.
Note: I wrote all that before the rapping. She really falls apart towards the end where she stop talking heart-to-heart and starts reading from a script directly as the character again. I think the ending could have been really funny actually if it cut off when she started to do that boom-box spitting noise which always precedes a rap, however she actually went through with it which seriously hurt it!

Agree with everything you just said, Hye. I really think what made the difference was that the actress felt what she was saying. The emotion was already there, she didn' t have to fake it, and she probably didn't have to memorize it much either.
I wonder whether the actress nearly dropped out because of all the criticism, but was persuaded to stay and they made things up to her by letting her speak out for herself. I guess this means we really are stuck with her. It won't be so bad if they write better scripts for her and direct her better, but I still don't understand why they picked her when there are certainly many other out-of-work actresses out there who would do it.

You know, remember how Miles's message from yesterday said an actor dropped out at the last second? Perhaps it was Jules after all the horrible reviews. That screwed up everything so they coaxed her back and got this episode done spur of the moment... it's not hard to notice it was filmed in a non-descript location as opposed to somwhere in her "house", so perhaps they hadn't secured the place for use when they got her back so they just did it against a wall.
The only reason why things would have gotten screwed up by an actor (obviously wasn't BDJ) dropping out last second would be if we already knew their character, and that their character had real significance for the plot. It is quite curious indeed...

It is quite curious indeed... I think you are on to something Hye and OIC. The fact that she was just behind a wall seemed as though they just put it together last second. I do agree that she was a little bit more likeable because she actually felt what she was saying. After watching her in this one, I don't know if she is as young as she looks. She might be about 17 or so but the braces make her look younger. If you take them away, she doesn't really look that young to me.However, I don't know what her appeal was that she was hired in the first place... very weird indeed. I still think her or her parents know the creators! She's like the Tori Spelling of the Breeniverse. She has to be... Since we pretty much know that she is canon now (whether we like it or not is another story), I think we should have a seperate thread for her so it's easier to find her new videos etc. I had to guess which thread you guys would be discussing her in, lol.
