Breaking News All Internet Video Fans!
Katers17 has broken into the Top40 of all-time most subscribed channels on youtube.
10/18am: Katers17: 4326 subscribers - #40 / OFFICIAL CHART
See also the 1st post in this thread where i have been keeping track of her daily subscriber total, if you're interested in that kind of thing. One thing i am noticing is that with youtube's growth, it naturally takes more and more subscribers to crack the top 40. i don't know the stats, but i'm sure 6 months ago it was much easier. when terryfic did that youtube auteur video which he released on aug 7, he has a screenshot showing that lg15 has 8646 subscribers to emphasize her huge popularity, but that would only be #17 all time today.

Was interesting, but I found it lame that in her 2nd video she was doing the same facial things (Actions? Movements?) as Bree. Yeah she does seem derivative of Bree, even more so in her newest video snogging the stuffed animal and twirling around to change outfits. That deja-bree all over again. |

the opening montage of this video is impressive - how long does it take to make something like that? i wish the audio was better, though. its a bit scary how indepth this guy goes into this. well done, high level IMS/Vblog critique. BTW, Katers17 is #34 all time most subscribed as of today. |

Yeah, it is funny to watch his first vid compared to this one and see the increase in production values. But realistically with decent video editing tools something like that could be made in an hour (assume you already had all the source video). It is really easy to have multiple video-in sources (lay a beveled edge effect on each of them) and make them whatever size and move in whatever direction you want. The most limiting factor in video editing these days is coming up with the concept, execution is really simply. |

I just wanted to add my two cents here
Personally, I don't care if anybody on YouTube is "Fake" as long as it's entertaining, interesting and different. Does it really matter? I wasn't upset when I learned the truth of Lonelygirl15 so to have speculation whether personalities like NoHogirls, Katers17 etc are "Fake" doesn’t make me immediately dust of my Sleuth gear and get to work. I started watching Lonelygirl15 because she was different from the rest, she was quirky and that is the reason I'm still watching. Whether it's scripted and acted just means to me they want more time and effort to entertain, but they still entertained nonetheless.
I think this is what's still confusing to me about YouTube. People seem to get personally affected and attached to these vlogs, that sometimes it seems that if the user there watching doesn’t post something new for a few weeks, they get upset. Now It's probably just me but I don't typically get excited by vlogs unless, and I hate to say this that either it’s someone or something I'm really interested in or that I want to hear their opinion or rant on the subject, I probably won’t watch. Like if Stephen King, Jim Carrey or hell even a fictional character like Jim Profit started vlogging I'd be first in the line. Not to say I don't like vlogs I just don’t get why people seem to prefer them to skits, homemade movies or variety type stuff like singing. Maybe because they are "real" and you can communicate with the person. Who knows?
I've probably mentioned this before but I started going on YouTube to see film and tv clips. (Daily Show, Movie Trailers SNL Skits or old TV & Cartoon shows) I got hooked into Lonelygirl & Brookers and thought it might be cool to put my own stuff up. Now it's probably that I’m new, not a female supermodel and that it takes time but I get discouraged when my stuff doesn’t light up right away and sometimes think should I do vlogs? Which I wouldn’t feel totally comfortable with mainly because I feel that why would people want to hear what I have to think? I'm really just a random stranger on the internet looking for some kind of 5 minute fame like everyone else on YouTube.
That’s my rant and I’m sticking to it, all sentence structure aside. Sorry if the post got a little long.

Hmm that is interesting. Would she delete them perhaps if she were getting harassed because of her newfound popularity? Or would it be better to just set her profile to private? By the way DrQuest if you're interested, Katers17 was one of the youtube personalities I spoofed in my video where various popular youtubers attend their first town hall meeting where they are re-enacted by toys.
