I'd argue that Homestar shares many characteristics of an internet mini series, albeit a cartoon one. While the site has certainly declined from its height of popularity, this is a series that has supported (somewhat generously from what I understand) its creators, the Brothers Chaps, for five years or so. It spread virally, and made its money using absolutely no advertising. It is, quite literally, the work of two guys in a basement. References are a ubiquitous feature of internet life. I doubt there's a Web site in existence that doesn't have a couple of accounts that reference Homestar. www.homestarrunner.comWhile there's no particular plot from episode to episode, the site does have strong characters and a devoted fan base. Look at their immaculate wiki at hrwiki.org. It's been the inspiration for a lot of us working on the LGPedia.
