Hi All, I'd love to learn about ARG-Alternative Reality Games. Are there forum members (Cu Roi?) who can give the rest of us some insight into the ARG world? I am especially interested in the rules and ethics of proper gameplaying. Here's Wiki on ARG. Many Thanks, FLWright

Yeah, me too! I subscribed to Occular Effect and also to the Unfiction forum or is it Unforum. I do not want to be disruptive but I really would like to participate/play. It seems reallly difficult to jump in mid-stream...

www.unfiction.com/glossary/There are pretty good FAQ's and a forum at this site. Nothing special seems to be running right now, Perplex city is a little too expensive for my tastes.

I had no clue what a ARG was until about a week ago, and I really didn't find out until this morning--brunch cancalled--when I finally got a round to googling Jane McGonigal. McGonigal has a great site were she explains the various aspects of the ARG from both a philosophical and practical perspective www.avantgame.com/writings.htmI spent most of the morning reading Jane McGonigal disseration at the gym. www.avantgame.com/dissertation.htm Its great; its also hilarious: its written in a maniac, almost frenzied style wherein you can picture someone trying to explain something and constantly running out of breath. This is especially true after reading her article--"A Real Little Game: The Performance of Belief in Pervasive Play" where she discusses the dangers of immersive performances that lead to a type schizophrenia (an inability to determine what is reality vs. game)--and blog. avantgame.blogspot.com/

You get karma, just for going to the gym to read a dissertation!
