ETA: LaRezisto.org was purchased today at 16:50:43 UTC, it looks like no one owns someone has bought LaRezisto.com too. I'm expecting a misleading fansite to be up before the day ends.

I don't speak Spanish or Esperanto, but this looks more like a video game advertisement than anything else. Are the C's trying to grab some advertising production work?

Apo I didn't realize until now that it was actually a canon video. When I saw that it was posted by "LaRezisto" on YouTube I assumed it was fanfic. As canon, it's almost as bad as Jules. Nuff said.
ETA: The figure at the end was almost certainly a gaylien.

ETA: The figure at the end was almost certainly a gaylien. ZOMG We've created a monster! From Luminous at the Phorum: Not afraid. Disappointed - and concerned.
If I had seen this video last July on YouTube - I would not have even clicked to watch it. It is such a gargantuan departure from where they started - innocence, beauty, humor, intelligence, mystery and intrigue - a young girl growing up, finding her own power in a world far more powerful than her that she doesn't understand. That is the story that attracted me to watch.
What we have in this video is the kind of crap the media throws at us all the time to condition us to accept war and violence in our lives to incite us to 'join the fight'.
The REAL resistance is to walk away from this nightmare and dream a good dream.I add to that: Proving Violence Right?!?

I don't get it, people are shocked and amazed (based on comments at the channel) that the LaResisto has gotten almost 200 subscribers in a day. Considering the audience of tens of thousands who are supposed to be watching- can someone tell me why that number is impressive?

I guess they are taking their cue from Op, Cassie, etc. I assume this will be popular with a certain contingent, perhaps it is a smart commercial move but I just don't understand how we ever got to THIS place...

My first question is why Spanish? Is Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez behind the Resistance? Or is it Che Guevara we are supposed to think of, or the Spanish Loyalists against General Franco. Is the Resistance a left wing paramilitary group?
This is just too silly, but what else is new?

Voiceover from video: "On August 3rd, thousands watched as an innocent girl died. No one could do enough to save her."
Maybe because the thousands knew that it was filmed in advance?
It's so patronizing. Where were THEY while the innocent girl died?
ETA: Rob, any particular reason why you said "Fedro" instead of Fidel?

ETA: Rob, any particular reason why you said "Fedro" instead of Fidel? No just a mistake, thanks Oh, ok. I thought maybe it was a portmanteau of Fidel + Pedro and Pedro was some important guy that I didn't know about. ETA: And I was also wondering why they would overlay a Spanish translation. Either they thought it sounded cool and foreign, or the next KateModern is going to be based in Madrid.

Heh...I didn't know what it said. I was defending the video. I think it's cool...I like the idea of more action (or more potential action). As for the bad grammar, I'm guessing it was due to a translator (software or device) reading the English version. (Some have said the Spanish is being read over a much softer English version.) We all know software adds a ton of grammar problems in translation. At least, I hope that's what it is.

Heh...I didn't know what it said. I was defending the video. Just some playful jibes at how positive you try to keep the discussion at the phorum, often with a "There's nothing to see here. Move along." style message when people bring up small flaws and continue to harp on them. In this case I'm with you. Apparently the Korean in Lost is terrible too, but that has never effected by enjoyment of the series. I add to that: Proving Violence Right?!? I'm having a hard time agreeing the moral statements the C's have been making for the last couple vids. I held my tongue about how they had the 'smart' character constantly refer to Sarah as a slut. It is hard to tell if they were reinforcing the negative stereo type, or accurately portraying Taylor's character. But now I really hope they don't have The Justice League of Breemerica join up and have a lot of success with what amounts to pretty much a terrorist group. Based on this video La Rezisto seemed worse then the Order to me. The intercut footage painted them as at lot more violent and dangerous. ETA: Now, don't get me wrong, I like violence in my entertainment. I'm always a little disturbed by how much I find myself cheering on Jack Bauer when he is torturing some guy. I just want to see the Order do something really bad (worse the peacefully drain the blood from a willing person) before we see Daniel hooking up car bombs

We all know software adds a ton of grammar problems in translation. At least, I hope that's what it is. Speaking in my sometime interpreter/translator, longtime Spanish-speaker capacity, that did not sound like a software translation to me. It sounded like colloquial, slangy, non-grammatical Spanish spoken by a person with a native accent and only a moderate amount of education at best. Let's just say that it's closer to good Spanish than "ebonics" is to good English. And much better than the Spanish I heard every day when I worked as an immigration caseworker with people recently arrived from the backcountry ranchos of Zacatecas. Oh, and I liked the video. So there!
