"There's a lot to criticize in this production, but I think most of the criticism in this thread is way overboard." An understatement, JH.....

It IS a distinction we wanted them to make, but if they were making it clear they sure used some unclear wording.

Fair enough, Jay, I'll do the same.
I will say, however, that we each have our own unique perspective through which we view art and storytelling. For that very reason, we do not each receive the same Text from the storytellers' efforts. This is often an indication of a story's success even when the viewer finds fault with the story, because that story has engaged on a personal level.
I'm not an influential voice. But my voice and my opinions are mine, and they are valid. I have not attempted to interfere with the production nor the presentation of this project, and so I will continue to feel privileged to present my perspective.
Wow, that was a lot of P words.

The questions usually stop right about there, don't they? If there is still enough higher brain functioning to ask questions at that stage, you're doing it wwrroooooonnnggggg!

That's the old "it's good art if it produces a reaction" thingy isn't it. And kind of true, because non of us would be posting if we didn't find some merit in discussing it.
Though I bet if you twisted most story teller's arms they would hope their audience would be engaged in the message or the plotline rather than engaged with the faults or inadequacies.

Well, even more than that, I think. If people were just finding fault with, "oh, did you see that there was a stain on Bree's shirt in shot a, but it was gone in shot b," that's getting a reaction, but a very impersonal one. And most of the "fake fake, screw that noise" reaction from YouTube was also unengaging.
But here, we get additional stories and ideas brought to our table, if not the creators' table, when we discuss Daniel's paranoia and whether it was justified, and the positioning of religion and whether it is responsible storytelling to cater to popular misconceptions. Personally I find it clever, but a deeply unsatisfying choice. But I can recognize that I wouldn't have such a personal response if the storytellers hadn't put the invitation to react on the table this way. If those choices hit me in a bad way, I'm going to say so. If they hit me in a good way, I'm going to say so.
