I'm not sure the guy in black WAS intentional. They could've noticed it after viewers pointed it out, then tossed together this 30 sec vid to get some more views. Why not?

is this a "quite" to the viewer suggestion that the man in black was someone following them?
Is that what mku77 meant posting "Quite" or did you mean that Gemma has quite the good eye for remembering people, since the man's face was a blur that appeared for a half second?

Ok, I have a theory on Gemma’s purpose in the LG, she isn’t there it advance the story like the LG and DB vids do. She is there for their much lauded fan interaction, they will drop clues in the LG and DB vids and when fans find them she will confirm them, or she will drop big exposition bombs when they think fans are off track.
Personally, it seems like this is the clumsiest possible way of doing this. It is beyond me as to why they are forcing fans to interact through this proxy instead of direction with LG and DB. My theory is that not everyone on the team likes the idea of the fan interaction/choose your own story style of story telling and they want to just tell the story they had in mind from the beginning. Thus Gemma was added so they can keep LG & DB fan interaction free and just tell their story, while still claiming the story is interactive because Gemma (who no one really cares about) will directly address fans' concerns.

Long answer....I suspect the fans noticed first and the G vid was a good tie-in
and that it wasn't deliberate on the part of the creators/wholly un-intentional, Just an accident

there may have been other people visible in the ceremony video, but i don't think we will be able to draw a conclusion one way or the other based on the video quality we have to work with.
if g's vid is just a joke based on seeing speculation in the forums, well ... they should have made it funnier, or should have at least directly quoted from phorum posters, by name, who made the suggestions.

I noticed this guy the first time I watched it. I joked in the video comments I believe in which I said how if we keep with the rule of everyone that has ever had screen tim gets their own spot on the main page of lg15, then they're going to have to give it to that random person captured in the pool shot. Edit: went back and found the quote- "HyeMew Says: November 14th, 2006 at 9:09 pm NEW CHARACTER AHOY!! Anyone notice the person seen on screen while Bree is pointing out the pool? If we abide by the everyone seen on camera is a character rule then….. " I was 100% sure that was just a random person walking by outside. I guess not. Either Gemma saw what I wrote (I don't know if others picked up on it as well, I assume someone else commented but I don't read all those video comments). I'm thinking (which would be sad) is that he really was put in there to get them scared that someone is still following them. LAME. UGHH I hope not. That suck to high heaven. I know the creators would never want to "canonize" a fan submitter, because once they had that they could run wild with it and do things they creators wouldn't wan't. That'd of course be bad. I have ALWAYS said though, and told them, that they should have a system where fans who want to "interact" have to run the script and video by them first. Maybe even the account's password has to be handed over to the creators so they can control what gets uploaded to it. However, it is the fan who writes the scripts, gets them approved, and has the creative license in filming. This would be fun for the fans and give them REAL involvement. I will be so pissed if it turns out Gemma came along just to represent the fan interaction. COME ON! She's terrible, no one likes her, and it's not fun for the fans if they have to funnel their "interaction" via throwing their ideas out there, having them selectively picked by the creators to become an issue, and from there they get to make Gemma do that "interaction" in lieu of the fans. There is nothing good about that method at all. |

i completely agree hyemew.
this whole thing was supposed to be interactive, and it didn't really work out that way. i just hope that when they introduce this character section of the site, that it doesn't let us all down. if it does live up to expectations i'd be excited to create a character, and her name won't be gemma!
this video was okay, but like its been said a million times, gemma constantly changes the subject from bree and daniels danger to something mundane or quotidian and its about as seamless as ski pants.

As far as the fan interaction. I think a more detailed discussion should be held in another thread about how this would be possible. When I regain my energy from the notExcitement this one instilled in me, I may start one.
Or, I may just throw feces at Gemma's pic like any rational monkey would do in this situation...

Jackie's latest video was better than the others. But I really think she would be better off going and doing her own thing on You Tube. She's been kind of shoe horned in at a late stage and it just seems clumsy to me. I also reckon she is half the actress that Jessica Rose is.
