Ok, I do like this new direction, but I completely agree that the silly putty thread it's hanging by is dangerously thin.
I'm especially amused by their complete shock at daniel being photographed as he's videotaping their ceremony. They're doing to him EXACTLY what he's doing to him, except to a lesser degree (as far as we know, they've only followed him at the "ceremony") If they want readers to be even slightly freaked out, pictures need to surface of Daniel in a towel brushing his teeth, or pictures of Daniel and Bree from the swimming video (or at the park). Something to suggest that the "cult" spying is more than retalitory (boy I hope that's a real word...) or to collect evidence against Daniel if Bree disappears.

ANY excuse for pictures of Daniel in a towel is a good one. Any excuse at all. Even evil Satanic Thelemic cultists, leering faces smeared with blood, dangling beheaded kittens from both hands as they genuflect to Baalzebub himself, will be happily forgiven by me just for one frickin' beefcake shot of Daniel! My lizard brain knows what it likes.

Milo, there are *self-destructive* cults. And there are greedy scam-cults. As far as I am aware, the FBI still has never found a single shred of evidence of *evil murderous cult* activity, unless you count, uhm, you know, Xenu and maybe Project Rescue.
I would still love to eat crow on this. I would still love to believe that this can still turn out to be a subversive allegory about divisiveness and paranoia. I held out for very long, but I have lost my faith. Here's something: if I turn out to be wrong in losing my faith, *and* I make it to Burning Man 2007, I hereby promise and foreswear to go topless to the actual Burn.

See, that's what would get me creeped, haha. The reason I actually started getting hooked on this was because of the mixed direction styles... Ya know, one week it would be all dark and creepy, and then the next week it would be sort of coming out of that. Now it's just getting boring.  |

But what the hell, I'm still young and reckless. Meh. Sorry about the caps; on a second read it *does* make me look blinder and ragier than I actually am. Nah, I'm with you, Hye. If you put all the people in the country in a line, with the hottest being in Eastport, Maine and the ugliest in San Diego, Jess would be in Bangor and Gemmers would be in, like, Topeka. The fact is that really smart kids make bed decisions. Was this a slip, JayH? ANY excuse for pictures of Daniel in a towel is a good one. No slip here! ok now that they are acting all cute couple again the lonely girl series will end with a pan over to brees bookshelf to reviel the picture of crowley has been replaced with one of bree and daniel kissing. Theme music starts credits roll the end

Sorry about the caps; on a second read it *does* make me look blinder and ragier than I actually am. And ya ya, Jay, other point is taken too -- you went to the trouble to make a whole thread for this discussion and here I am coloring outside the lines. My crayons are naughty, what can I say> I like it with caps and bold and rage and blindness.. All mixed with clear perception and mighty intelligence makes for a great feeling to read.. At least to me.. Because it gives the full impression of being a true picture of something going on inside a real person. That's what I miss from LG15, it does not have to be perfect but it must have a feeling you can relate to.. Whether you agree or not to the options chosen by the the characters, as long ad they believe in what they are doing and they transmit just that, then it is a pleasure to watch how they deal with their ideas and problems. jayhenry I don't believe you really think Noa hates LG15.. Neither that you want Noa to stop watching and posting about it. However I understand that some times discussing in too much detail may spoil the fun because it leaves no room for imagination to those who just like to watch and fill in the gaps as they may see fit.. But some people need the story to feed both their minds and their hearts in the same proportion, I can't control my feelings but I won't enjoy those feelings coming from things that do not make sense to me enough to make them credible.. So if the creators want me among their fans then they'll need to build their stories in a solid-fashionable-realistic way.. Meanwhile please let me be until the story makes sense again or I just get tired of it and simply shut up and go to something else out of shear boredom. I love reading to Noa just as she is.. And I like to think this is her place too. And everybody else as well!  |
