Wow. This really IS a new art form. No, wait, theatre of the absurd already exists. Between the last two videos we are well into plot holes, extreme continuity problems, and bizarre characterization. I'm officially checking out of the Bree verse after this one.

Bye! Don't let the boom mic hit you on the way out!
((no, sorry, I'm really grumpy))
I think more people need to understand that this was a pet project, not a fullscale production! These are not professionals! You can't possibly expect them to have everything done perfectly, especially since they are only using what resources they have at hand.
They may be doing this on purpose OR they may have made mistakes OR anything could have happened, BUT, cut them some slack, for goodness sakes.
If you love LG15 for what it is and was, stay, but if not, then leave, but, don't act all high and dissapointed about it because you knew and know what it is and what is coming and everyone has SUCH HIGH expectations from these people's PET PROJECT that they can't just sit back and enjoy the show anymore.
ARGHHHHHHH.
((I am still flaming sick, and probably PMSing. Ignore me.))

Hi Guys,
Bree’s pretty perceptive when she says that she and Daniel have “switched” (rational/irrational). She also still cares for him. She is acutely aware of the importance of secrecy in her religion, but she seems less than certain that this secrecy should be used as an excuse to hurt others. She was just as taken aback by the pictures as he was and wants to get some answers too.
Secrecy and exclusiveness were needed with early religions if they were to survive. Unfortunately, they have also been used as offensive weapons in the war for souls. This results in silliness(secret handshakes, signs, and “Nyahner, nyahner, I’m going to heaven and you’re not!!!”) and worse (paranoia, delusions of grandeur, “You’re going to hell if you don’t believe”.) It will be interesting to see how Bree struggles with this.
And really, really neat if Danielgirl and Lonelybeast team up again to figure it all out together!
Off to Work,
FLWright

Hi D717,
Both smart. Daniel calm/no-nonsense/rational. Bree perky/silly/sometimes lets her feelings rule.
But Daniel has strong feelings too, and Bree recognizes when she's let her anger get the better of her.
That's what makes us human beans so interesting!

BUT, cut them some slack, for goodness sakes. Thanks for reminding us all of this Alissa. I do think though that most of the problems people point out are related to mistakes, etc. that we THINK are not related to low production budget issues. I think they have done a Breally amazing job given the (assumed) low budget they have to work with. Very creative for the most part and they have leveraged the tech fairly well, excepting the Phorum of course. That's a whole 'nother issue... Again, it is much easier to Monday am quarterback all of this when we are not under the pressure to produce a consisently high quality product. If you think about the time frame under which they are releasing the vids, I think they are doing very well. Keep it up! Just my $.02.

I think this was a better video than people are giving it credit for being. Bree is really struggling with her religion here, and that hasn't happened before. Before the struggle was always with her parents -- "they don't think I can maintain my purity bond if I go hiking, but I can hold my religion and do it." She never backed away from the religion, she never backed away from camp, she never considered not doing the ceremony or not going to the Equinox. This video is a pretty big development!
So trite, so Geraldo? I guess I'm watching the wrong TV channels, but this epistolary adaptation of the life of a teenage cult member isn't something I've seen before. While I've definitely heaped my share of criticism on the Creators, I still think the characters themselves are well-conceived.

No, the whole "multigenerational secretive evil magickal cult" trope is straight out of the moral panics and urban legends of the 80s and 90s. Shades of Lauren Stratford, Michelle Pazdar and Mike Warnke.
But a point could be made that even *this* video doesn't put us irretrievably into that territory, I suppose.

I'd never heard of any of these people. Had to google 'em. The three in question made outrageous claims about Satanic Cults murdering babies and stuff. Bree hasn't gone anywhere near that. And I take issue with the notion that, oh, somebody wrote a book about a Satanic cult 26 years ago, therefore an Internet Miniseries about a cult is tired and played out. Nothing passes an original-o-meter that stringent. TV show Lost? I already played the computer game Myst. "24"? I read an Ian Fleming novel about that crap 50 years ago. "Jurassic Park" -- sorry I'd already been to the natural history museum. E.R.? I was born in an emergency room, been there, done that!

Sorry Alissa, but you came up with a much more interesting story line than this and they could have just used yours. (and squandered potential always disappoints me.) I'm not bothered by mistakes, I'm bothered by something that's gone from intriguing to absurd. Your Youtube videos about being bored are way more interesting than what LG15 has become. I just think the whole LG15 community is better than the reason it came to be now. Maybe that's how popl culture goes though? and how am I still a newbie? Bye! :: shrugs :: It wasn't just one or two books; it was a very complicated, very big urban legend that ended up hurting a lot of innocent people when it morphed and fed into the nascent repressed-memories and nursery-school-ritual-child-abuse panic. I was already in high school and young adulthood when this was blowing up, and ten years ago is still recent. The whole mess still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I don't think I'm alone on that.

OK Alissa not trying to start anything so please don't take it as such. Yes I complain when an episode does not live up to the high mark they had set in the past. It was good I mean that's why were all here in the first place. When they in my eyes slip and don't hit there mark I will complain. Just like I do when my favorite sports team loses a game when I know they could have won. I really liked the last Daniel video and said so. Yeah hindsight is always 20/20 and yes you can always say they could have done this or that to make it better because in your mind things like that always work out. I don't take that as acting as a know it all or high and mighty. just frustrated in something you enjoy a lot letting you down.
