"(I shall henceforth delineate as the Gang of Four)" This is the first time I truly feel left out I guess I'll just have to increase my trouble making activity. I think you are too smart to be associated with the likes of Slainte and I, Rob. That I have not been banned from posting there is beyond me... And no, I am NOT proud of that...

This whole issue has really steered me away from the phorum. It really makes me sad that they feel that this was a necessary action to make. As I said on the phorum, it seems disproportionate to the need of the phorum and reflects poorly on the moderator community at LG15.
I also (as slainte pointed out) related this policy to the Vietnam Era America. I actually wanted to compare it to the modern state of government in the United States in relation to the Patriot Act, but didn't want to seem to political on a forum that isn't. Everything is behind the scenes now and the general public (and in a lot of cases the posters themselves) are not aware of the infractions made, nor that there were rules regarding that particular infraction. It's ridiculous, if you ask me.
Transparency in the law is an imperative for any community. If one does not know one is breaking a rule, how can one stop breaking the law? Furthermore, it makes me wonder what exactly these "rules" are. Even if the rules the moderators enforce are benign, shrouding them in secrecy just engenders a suspicion in the community that these rules must somehow be unfair or unjustified, thus providing good reason to keep them hidden.
Sorry for repeating things others have said, I just wanted to write all that out and get it off my chest. haha.

Perhaps I see this in a different way. I think the mods there are fairly fair when it comes to deleting posts and allowing leeway.
I have had several posts deleted and threads locked, but only because I knowingly posted grossly outrageous statements. This has always been after reminders to behave that I have adhered to and then subsequently gone off the reservation.
I guess my point is that I really don't care about criticizing a moderator over there. I don't see why that it even unnecessary to do given my experiences. The impetus for this whole thing was a reaction to a witch hunt of a moderator, baseless in and of itself. If I were to be banned, I am sure I would deserve it.
Although I think the basis of your opinions are sound, I think the policy is sound given the circumstances under which it was enacted. As an aside, I am suspicious of Apo's sincerity in this matter but I think he does feel tawdry about being involved in the Stalinist Style events that lead to all of this...
I think BK is doing the only thing he can to try and prevent another "Why We Hate this Mod" thread from spinning out of control ... Was there a better way to achieve this goal? I dunno I'm not a mod (talk about inappropriate....), but I can see how they would not like one of their own viscously attacked and unable to defend himself.
Interesting discussion, and as you can see Matsie it CAN be done without personal attacks...

Well, I was serious in my support of the new policy "over there." Of course, CG is right about my feeling somewhat dirty about the whole thing. Neutrogena doesn't make a product that can help with that. However, I did admit I was wrong with the way I had posted about the issue that many seem to believe started the whole thing. I did not add anything to that post that might have made that admission seem less than genuine.

Thanks for clarifying Apo, you are a master of wit and laconic writing and I am just a dumb monkey. I won't ask you to elaborate further, though I am sure you know that I was seeking answers from you when I wrote that. Nuff said. I take you at your word.
When I can step back from the raw emotion of this thing, I find it fascinating to watch the social dynamics at work here. This thing has brought out a lot of interesting issues if one can navigate through the quagmire of nonsense and personal axe grinding.
ETA: Again I find it absolutely absurd that the folks calling for boycotts of the show etc. started all of this because they did not like the fact that a mod had the balls to offer personal critiques. It's bizzaro world insane. 1 +1 =3 with these people.

Ok, seeing as I never set foot in that place I am unaware of what led to this. A thread was created to attack a mod?

Slainte....I just found the hug coupon in the thread. I find you to be the sickest, most twisted, perverse degenerate of a man I have ever known in my entire life.

Geez...this is all pretty out of hand, isn't it? I personally don't want her here, trust me...but I don't know. This is getting dirty.
ETA: in reaction to her last post..uh..nevermind about it being dirty. Clearly she is just miserable no matter what. I can't get past it to even attempt to say anything even remotely in favor of her. Good riddance.

I still think this is getting out of hand on both sides. Yeah, you're right. I just have that mean girl gene that makes me not really care about things like fairness once I want to scratch another girl's eyes out.
