The phorum is like the girl's room in a Catholic school for wayward teens run by the mafia and Anchor Cove is like a pass/fail discussion course at a private college taught by a respected artist in residence.

Owen: I do not find it OTT that people are in such uproar. With the internet being the greatest present medium of freedom of expression, should we allow that to be lost because it is electronic? Aw Tempy, don't get me wrong; I never said freedom of expression was worth any less in an electronic medium. I just can't get as excited/passionate/worked up about this as you and others. Word. But I think it's also fair to let the Creators decide how they want to run their own forum. If others don't like it, they go elsewhere, much like the whole lot of us who would rather post here. I appreciate that here we can be open about policies, but I think the mob at the forum is not as capable of keeping a cool head about such things, ergo the C's and the mods seem to have decided to leave them out of it. I'm not saying it's the best solution, I'm just saying I can't blame them for trying to avoid more flame wars directed at volunteers. Of course, as often happens to the C's, it backfired. C'est la vie. Spacie: My Catholic high school didn't have pass/fail courses. What's the "fail" part for?

Thank you, by the way. There is nothing worse than an ungrateful bitch. OIC, I can't tell if you're being serious or not...but the "fail" would be for "fail" as in "fail the course"...pass/fail classes are offered, generally, at your more smarter type schoolin' houses where don't nobudy need no dern grades. Definitely not at any school my stupid ass ever went to..but you know.

Of course not. I couldn't help but take credit for bringing this on now. Welcome to Turkish prison.. I mean the phorum! Yes, it is rather like that and yes your were the SUBJECT of the root cause of it Hye. You are NOT the cause of it though. I find it heinous that the "person" who started all this rabble rousing with the mods in the first place has disappeared and will probably return once the crap has subsided. She skips out, leaves the phorumites in a phrenzy (including your humble monkey) and does not have to take any responsibility for her muckraking. I personally was upset that she (viscously) attacked the most meaningful thing I get out of all of this. That would be one of US. I would do the same for all of you, even Slainte . Especially Slainte. There, but for the Grace of God, go I... As for the policy, I don't see that there are any real rules over there anyway so the discussion appears to be just "academic" (poor choice of words given the location).

Aw Tempy
I only quoted your post to imagine you saying breathlessly "Aw Tempy" in my ear. It gives me a snuggly warm feeling through my insides as I look upon my slave beating himself stupid with a cricket bat while the goat molests him. Simple pleasures.
No really Owen, I was not picking you out merely throwing my opinion out there. I don't get het up about phorum happenings as I happen to think they bring it on themselves. Though I realise that people rebel unless you give them a voice (in a controlled manner, otherwise there is chaos). A complaints section is the perfect outlet for freedom to speak out.
In essence let people feel they are integral to the community itself and they don't piss on it. Example: If someone lives around one section 24/7 ask them to be a mod and with pleasure they cut out the trolls and are the first people to act as a go between for members and modded ones.
The phorum creators had a good idea with making mods of members (I recall when they asked Anchor Cove to mod, gawd) but now the/some mods cannot speak to regular phorumites about key issues.
It amuses me that with so many 'laws' in place it is more chaotic than many forums.
(Spacie, my pleasure. I think you had me at the Duff reference in another thread)

Definitely not at any school my stupid ass ever went to..but you know. I'm sorry it wasn't clear enough that I was joking around. That was unexpectedly nice of you to actually explain it (since I'd have to be truly clueless to not know that). I know what pass/fail classes are, but we didn't have them in high school because nobody failed. Sure, we had grades, but they didn't matter because we all knew we were just being babysat and kept out of trouble. I don't think a single bubblegum-brained student was ever failed at anything. It amuses me that with so many 'laws' in place it is more chaotic than many forums. True DAT. Because of this avatar, I know think of "Owen" as a girl's name. That is all. I wonder what else I could do with my avatar to confuse and disorient you. Maybe just put up pictures of random objects until you start thinking of faucets, cellphones, and loose leaf paper all as "owens".

LLP descends in the thread and says: www.lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=424812#424812"I can tell you this...I won't be buying any Neutrogena to support this website until something is done about you-know-who. Conversely, I'll promise to go out and buy $50 worth of Neutrogena the minute this is taken care of permanently. PS I was donating, but I've already stopped because of the unwillingness to address this issue." CG response: "I am sure c's and the shareholders at Neutrogena are quaking in their boots at your threats to withhold financial support. This could indeed have financial repercussions the world over. I hear Bono has contacted the World Bank to arrange for a benefit concert to make up for the lost revenue. Thanks for the heads up, I've shifted my 401k allocation to gold krugerands in anticipation of a world economic collapse." ETA: LLP's post has thankfully been deleted.

It is just reaching a level of absurdity beyond any comprehension. I will continue to challenge these kinds of ridiculous threats.

This sounds like a joke, but it isn't. I sincerely think the plot is to blame.
I read here recently that many of the fierce researchers have left the phorum (my phirst use of the "ph" - Yay!). Thus, the collective IQ has diminished greatly (my conclusion). In this medium, this is a key loss.
Many attribute this intellectual dive to the plot holes and poor writing of the Cs. I do at least.
My hypothesis is that the plot quality is directly attributed to the lack of attention given to it. Let me clarify that I believe that they are passionate about their project, but I fear that their process is mucked up by inefficiencies and insulation. My guess is that hands that shouldn't be bound - Are. They have story meetings - sure, but perhaps the REAL energy and communication that has to happen to find the great ideas and more importantly team synergy/like-mindedness ... doesn't occur. Also, it seems like they have some fair-to-good plot ideas, but the details and the creative executions are literally Executed!
Take this trend and apply it to the situation in the phorum. To actually educate the masses would take something akin to the REAL energy I mentioned above. Because of the tendency to not climb to this height, I'm not surprised that the silly rules have been implemented.
Ironically, if the plot was such that maintained a larger quantity of the brainy types (not that there aren't any around - sees you guys still in the room), then I believe the phorum would be better self governed.
Practically speaking, if the story was awesome and filled our minds with the attraction it could, then there would be no time to criticize the mods. - Well - maybe a little time for that, but I think I've made my points.
I haven't been around since the beginning, so this theory could probably use some insight from those more experienced than I.
my peace!

Funny thing is, LLP hates so many people, at first I wasn't sure who "you-know-who" is. She even truly hates the fictional character Bree, quote for being an ungrateful bitch unquote to Daniel. I sure hope I don't also have a midlife crisis that involves making 60 "Daniel should take his pants off" posts a day. I'd be scared to death of her if I were Yousef. Ironically, if the plot was such that maintained a larger quantity of the brainy types (not that there aren't any around - sees you guys still in the room), then I believe the phorum would be better self governed.
