For me, it has to be "The Ceremony" videos.
The love affair is long over.

hey west. i think the question is not when, but how many times. i think you once claimed it jumped the shark before sometime in september (learning to drive?). brian flemming claimed it jumped in that famous aug 21 blogpost. funny you should mention the love affair analogy, see this thread at the phorum and my response: www.lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4977edit to add: p.s. west, i just read some of your old posts, you got CRUSHED on the karma side for questioning alissa & terry's independence as mods at both forums way back when in the good old days. you were an honest skeptic, though.

Milo, as always, you make quite a few salient points.
I lost a lot of faith in the project in September. But, couldn't help but still watch hoping it would return to its former glory.
I certainly didn't do my karma any good questioning the utility of Cove folks embracing the "real" forum. Look at what a train wreck it quickly became. I rest my case.
The love affair link is fascinating. I feel sorry that he/she is only writing it now as many of us have felt that way for quite awhile.
I feel the most sad about the fact that the crew and actors had something really special going on and were able to destroy it so quickly and conclusively in such a short amount of time.

I smote west quite a few times because I recall us having a fight aways back, over what I don't quite remember. Probably something to do with me being a mod over there and here.
I agree with your last line about most sad how they were able to destroy something special so quickly. I more or less agree completely. There was true magic in the videos from the beginning into August, and while I don't agree with Fleming that it jumped on August 21, there were seeds of its destruction. Back then they began their first mistake by concentrating too heavily on her religion. I loved when it was this creepy mysterious aspect to her (not saying Thelema is, saying that what Bree was had not been laid out completely and I loved the ambiguity), once they started explaining what it was, ruining the mystery, talking about a "ceremony", I started to get bothered. I think the amazing thing about Bree was how little we really did know about her, letting us know too much about anything in her life was bound to take away from the magic. The too-much-religion emphasis led to the ceremony, which was a complete bust (and in my opinion it was planned to be the REAL ceremony until fans hated it so much that they made it a fake one by necessity). I do think the Ceremony was probably the shark jump moment, because while right when it happened I wasn't ready to declare it a shark jump, however in retrospect its been all downhill since then so now I can look back and declare it such. This leads to another interesting question- was it really planned to be the fake Ceremony so they could get off on the ridiculous tangents we find ourselves at now, or did they really come up with that fake ceremony plot before-hand and had in mind at least some of what happened? Wouldn't it be wild and truly tragic if the fake Ceremony is the real reason for serious dive the series took, and its all because fans complained over what was a legitimate letdown? Interesting conjecture, though I doubt it as The Ceremony episode itself was indicitive of the downturn the series was taking, so much build up and wild speculation only to have it dashed with the lamest of lame videos.

I think flemming might have been right. The videos What Did Dad and Daniel Talk About and I Probably Shouldn’t Post This… were the first two videos of LG’s that I didn’t like. I disliked What Did Dad and Daniel Talk About so much so that I almost didn’t attach my video as a response to it.
I think they were the first early signs of the show jumping the shark. They were the first time the series began to steer away from realism and the concept of this being a real vlog and instead allowed the story to take over. To me this is the problem with the series now. It is no longer about Bree. It is no longer a realistic story told in a unique fashion. It is a ridiculous story with bland sycophantic characters presented just as every other TV show or film is.
After Daniel The Neanderthal the show became a lot more hit or miss. Those first 15 videos are the best streak the show has ever had.

We all fell in love with Bree (not in a creepy way - well not for most of us) back in those early days because it was simple and there were enough issues - is she 19? 23? and what's with the Crowley pic - that kept us comfortably intrigued.
And then the madness started. I agree it was before the ceremony but the ceremony was the 'no going back' point.
The best part of the LG15 thing and what keeps me checking in is this board and the dialogue that goes on here. I hope Alissa is getting some kick back from the Revver advertisers.
