Whoa this is from the official youtube blog dated January 11: Finally, we’re opening up the programming of our home page to guest editors. We’ll pick one user a month to take over for a few days. All you’ll have to do is send us 10 videos you’d like to place on home (make sure they adhere to the terms of service!) along with a short video about why you chose what you did and how you found the experience. If you’re interested in participating, please let me know. That's pretty big news... isn't it..? But then how come I haven't seen this reported on other blogs? Quick Online Tips is the only major blog I've seen that reported this. Here's the full youtube post : www.youtube.com/blog?entry=B8DTd9ZXJqM. Umm did everyone miss this? Or is this just me missing the details of something again . The news about guest editors is hidden at the bottom of the blog post, and maybe that's why it's been over looked? How are the featured videos usually chosen? It's by people working at youtube isn't it? Why is letting users choose the featured videos as guest editors not a big story? I thought it would be insanely big news that users could choose the front page videos? It's a great community encouraging idea but a very risky one.

Anyone got any ideas? I think we should compile a bunch of suggestions here for us to pick and choose from, for those who might not have a complete 10 in mind. We can each submit a combination of those or whatever we want. Seeing as this is so hidden, maybe one of us might get lucky!

The blog post says "If you’re interested in participating, please let me know." So I think to become a guest editor you need to email editor@youtube.com, which is the email address of Mia the writer of that blog post. Umm I have no idea of what videos to pick... someone from here should really try and become a guest editor . Are the front page videos usually newish sort of ones..? I don't really watch anything myself off the front page The latest from the youtube blog is kind of interesting: www.youtube.com/blog?entry=fEjJOXRoWwg. It has a video from youtube editor Big Joe Smith. I think he choose the front page videos for last week, and in the blog he gives his reasons why.
