Hello all. I chose Rainmaker because I was very impressed by the game The Beast and I believe that the entire Lonelygirl15 saga is also a game. Here's a cut-n-paste of what I posted on another forum. I just didn't want to redo all that typing.
A while ago, before the movie A.I. came out, the trailers mentioned a person by the name of Jeanine Salla. Those who paid attention (aka those who have much time on their hands) Googled the name and something extraordinary took place: they were sucked into a game called The Beast (any connection). The Beast was an online mystery centered around a murder. The websites created for this game were very realistic; links to other "sites" were available. Those who participated in the game (which actaully ran in real time) received phone calls (you had to register) and emails that provided clues and such. The game created a whole new world and a whole new concept of gaming. The Beast ended before the movie came out, I think. For more on the game go to www.cloudmakers.org. There was media coverage for the game, and because the game started because of A.I.'s trailer, the movie got press as well.
I believe that this LG15 thing is a similar ploy. There is some link between LG15 and the entertainment industry. MTV? No. They are not smart enough. Just watch an episode of Laguna Beach. They can't even cast an actress who can pronounce bothered (she pronounces it bot-herd). Some film corp? Maybe. The military? Maybe. I do believe that Fox corp has the talent to cook something like this up. Rev + YouTube + MySpace + NBC = coporate marketing? Most likely.
BTW, Microsoft was behind the production of The Beast.
