You have to love Gervais and how he just talks with the press and does try and sell buzz to them. Not all that many stars (or star wannabes) are willing to say things like:
Q. what if someone like Google offered you a lot of money to make a TV-style show - but just for their site?
A. I could see it happening but I'd think - what's the point? If it's going to be as good as watching it on TV, then it's probably going to be as expensive. And if it's as expensive, then why don't we just put it on TV?
Q. How do you feel about people who watch Extras or The Office on illegal sites, which may prevent them from buying the DVD?
A. I don't know that it does. I'm guessing here and I'm sure record companies and networks would say it is damaging. But is it?
Although I don't agree with everything he says - I do think that internet video isn't HD and most tv programming is headed that way so that internet video will remain a little cheaper to produce. Especially if the show involves any sort of special effects. I thought his observation was dead on that a web audio show can compete on even terms with a professional audio show, while a web video show can't.
And just in case anyone hasn't heard his podcasts yet, or isn't familiar with who Karl Pilkington is, well, you should fix that. He may possibly be the funniest man in Britain.

Now that I think of it, those three going on about nothing and everything may well be the true heirs of the Pythons.....
