bebo.com/watch/4482000472SummaryI had another dream this weekend. It was really creepy. I made this video from what I can remember from the the dream. -------------------------------------- Another Kate art video. This one reminded me a little bit of Un Chien Andalou, my favourite, actually the only surrealist film that I like. Likely I just see the connection because Un Chien Andalou was also based in large part on dreams. The reason I like it so much is because it is so nonsensical and was put together that way on purpose - "Nothing, in the film, symbolizes anything." Buñuel. Where as these videos I get the feeling that they are suppose to be "clues" to Kate's past, which I think is kind of trite and lame. We have all seen dream sequences that act as cryptic exposition countless times. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CG started a different thread at the same time, he added: Pretty cool for a dream simulation, I have no idea what all this is supposed to mean of course... Trippy. I liked it but I hope that they can get a real narrative started soon.

Can I resist having a cheap snark?...no, I'm sorry I can't... At least the creators are coming up with titles that actually sum up the videos now. Boom, boom. ******** Okay, I do think dream/thought sequences can work rather well. Take La Jetée (the film 12 Monkeys is based on) for example - and it was done all through photographs, and it managed to be mysterious, have a plot, and a twist. Pan's Labyrinth is a more recent example of using dreams to tell a story. But what I think sets these films apart is the blending of fiction and non-fiction, and the often indecipherable lines between the two. KM however, is seeming more like a soap opera dream sequence where some girl named Faith has amnesia and her dreams give her clues as to who she really is, and that she has an evil twin and that her husband was murdered by the man who had an affair with her best friend's lover's son. By the way Kate is Cassie, aka Tachyon - Bree's long lost biological sister, who was on the boat with Jonas's parents when it went down. Jonas's parents also being Bree's parents, Alex's brother and sister-in-law, and therefore Kate, aka Cassie, aka Tachyons parents as well.

Since film references are in order, what this reminded me most of is A Zed and Two Naughts, an early film by Peter Greenaway, a British film maker, some of the other spliced in creepy crawly footage reminded me of it as well. Maybe now that they are in London they are boning up on British cinematography. www.imdb.com/title/tt0090366/Peter Greenaway is one of my favorite directors. His films are described as absurdist, again the Theatre of the Absurd?
