Hi All, I don’t think anyone involved with LG really thinks the show can be turned profitable I also saw a quote from the 3 Breesketeers that they are not yet turning a profit. In Hollywoodland, nobody turns a profit. The creativity in accounting far exceeds the creativity in filmaking most of the time. So profit would surprise me. I hope the investors get their money back. I hope the actors and writers and producers get paid a decent wage. From SXSW: "Daniel and Bree have run away from home and a video that was once about a girl and her webcam has become more artsy, clever and creative."So wrong, so very, very wrong. I can accept what it has become, but this is delusional. "When I heard the idea the first thing I thought about was Wells and War of the World, using new tech to tell a story, a cool way to make movies."I think this is a far more accurate explanation than the defensive "Luke never turned to the audience and said,'I'm an actor', during Star Wars" explanation of their fiction. Jay: you have too much time on your hands..... LOL, somebody e-mailed it to me and it took me 5 seconds to share the link. Now, if you want to talk about the time I spend maintaining the LGPedia...

"The videos now get millions of views."
Unless I'm missing something, this is false.

"The videos now get millions of views." Unless I'm missing something, this is false. if you add up multiple lg15 videos, you get millions of views. you didn't think they meant millions of views PER video, right? ;-)

the word "now" makes it a lie. You can't say their videos NOW get millions of views if they've already gotten them in the past.
Also: "these poor kids are living on the LG15 site."
I think we figured out they get an alert via RSS when there's a new video, and that's how they know, but I don't dispute that people spend a lot of time there. Sometimes I feel like I "live" at the cove. "poor kids" is an interesting word choice. It assumes that they are indeed kids, and that they are worthy of pity.

Also: "these poor kids are living on the LG15 site." This isn't a lie if you are talking about a select few no-lifers like KilltheSmiley and the meepers who at least used to hold conversations all day in the comments section of the main page. I dislike the way they look down on everyone by making it seem like we are all so obsessed we do nothing but LonelyGirl. That is only the case for like one or two percent of all phorum fans, and like 0.0000001% of all fans. While the title is correct in saying LG15 is alive, I am not sure about the "and well" part. I mean we just had a Cheats-for-Porn Scandal and at least Mesh has been distancing himself from the whole thing, are they sure it's well...?

Also: "these poor kids are living on the LG15 site." it doesn't seem like the kind of image they want to encourge. "join the social misfits at lg15.com!!!!" "see if the random party thread can hit 1200 pages without exploding!" its good to have rabid fans, don't demean their happy existence at your site ... and in other news, mirage no longer has the post record at the phorum. Cloud_Ax, who i think may have been one of the comment board meepers, now has 9095 posts (he avgs. 135 posts a day) compared to Mirage's 8230. i know, lots of shorts posts, but even 9000 smiley posts is a phenomenal number. put it this way, mirage and cloud_ax combined have more posts at the phorum than the ENTIRETY of anchor cove.

From the Wired piece:
[... which has morphed from early-year 90210 angst to a confusing poor-mans alias ...]
Ouch. Then again, it's true.
[... but they are looking for other ideas, which so far boils down to product placement...]
... and are just ideas. Why would FedEx pay for product placement on LG15? The audience is fairly small compared to other advertising possibilities, and I sincerely doubt the audience is even an interesting segment to target for them.
And Jay, you're the man! That first piece made me chuckle so bad. No cash, no girls. Web stardom really leaves something to be desired. Ah well, at least I can get 9 posts per minute when I wave my creatorly hand in that commanding way.
