why? Why do you care what it says or about spending hours editing it? I don't get it. If you generally are disappointed in the series and whatnot, why waste time supporting it and basically working for the almighty "creators"? Why are you doing them a favor like that?

Because its fun, and the creators pay by the word!
History is written by the winners, right? Hence, one proves thenselves a winner by writing at the lgpedia. No?
Edit to add: I miss some of the funny entries purged in the name of "truthfulness."

I started editing back in October when I started watching the series. I actually liked it back then. This was back when speculation about the Deacons, watchers, etc. was rampant. Bree and Daniel were wasting time in a motel. I read the comment boards sometimes and people just came up with infuriatingly dumb stuff sometimes. When I tried to explain to them why the Babylonians did not discover DNA, and why that wouldn't be relevant even if it was true, my posts went ignored. At the same time, I realized that people quoted the wiki as if it were infallible, like everything in it was so official. So to combat stupidity, I began editing the wiki, and hey guess what, suddenly people listened to me, quoted me, etc. Go figure. So yeah, I don't edit the wiki for the creators, I edit it to combat misinformation. Furthermore, now that the series makes me gag, I hardly edit anymore, I'm just not as motivated. Since I became admin along the way, I do feel a certain responsibility to keeping it clean from spam, vandalism etc. Truth is, it's fun for a lot of people, so I don't like others ruining that fun for them. And that's what I do most of the time now, just swoop in for things that seem more important, and to keep it clean.

I don't know who all the admins are over at the LGpedia (other than Jay and OIC), but I want to mention that the ones I've interacted with have been super nice and very helpful - even if they aren't all that into the series! OIC, especially, was helpful in my meager little foray in and out! So I'm glad that some folks feel motivated to keep helping out - if nothing else, it does keep the fallacies, rumors, and misinformation at bay!

BK -- thanks so much. I like editing the LGPedia, it's a relatively constructive way to obsess over LG15. For me, it sure beats meeping until a new video comes out, but that's just my preference. =)
Milo -- lol, if I had a nickel for every word I've written on the LGPedia, I'd be posting this from the Cayman Islands. That is, my own private island.
We did have some (unintentionally) hilarious entries that were created in all seriousness... let's see if I can remember a few... Book of Life -- because the Book of Life is DNA, which Bree believes in because she likes science Order of the Big Bang - because it might be the Order Order of the Wifflebits -- page was stated as a joke (by Milo or Hye or someone... am I right?) but was picked up by another editor and taken seriously as another possible "the Order" Knights of the Round Table and Knights Templar -- because Gemma said the Watchers operate like an Order of knights. Yale University, Yale's Coat of Arms and Skull and Bones - because Yale might somehow be the Order, and because a fanfic series used to call Bree the "Urim and Thummin" (Yale's motto).
That's all I can think of for now, but yeah, there was other fun stuff on there too.

Les, I have found it to be the most reliable source of info affiliated with LG. Very well done overall. It's especially hard to keep up with all the Wannabrees right now, and it's much easier to read the synopsis pages than to sit down and view the (mostly) insipid vids. I'm still on the fence about Wikis in general, but it's a pretty amazing concept... As for the labor involved, I have to give credit to the c's in the way that they are encouraging people to be participate in the way(s) they see fit: Some create vids, some create rants , some Meep Mindlessly, and others just lurk. Overall, it's a pretty diverse community, including the skeptics here!
