I think that the rise of Sarah as the Phorumite Princess signals the end of the series as we (so few at this point) know it. She is very popular with the phans and there is no doubt in my mind that she and Taylor will take the torch from Bree.
Although I am glad that Jess has many opportunities, the heart and soul of this project is slowly fading into the sunset. The Bree bashing on the phorum is a sign that the c's have orchestrated the torch passing well. Then again, that is not the most sophisticated audience...
We all knew that Jess was leaving, it appears sooner rather than later. Sigh. With her goes Mesh's original vision of a quirky (not cliche') character that was an offshoot of his campfire stories and Pond. Sigh. I guess that it is showbiz.
I realize that Sarah will be more of a phorumite success and will appeal to the a largest Lowest Common Denominator. Not so original a character though... If you had a daughter, which one of the two would you prefer they be? Perhaps that is my perspective, but I think a few others share this POV...
The new writer Jan seems poised to bring the plot back to at least a point where it is not so absurd. Too bad they did not enlist her earlier.
For those who think I pronounce death too early, perhaps you are correct. Knowing the c's propensity to listen to great unwashed's clamor above even their own original vision, do you doubt that this is the path?

Oh, you monkey, you! Lonelygirl15 is Bree. And we know it in our hearts. What does it really mean to say its the end of the show as we know it? I mean, I understand what you are saying CG, but cannot distill it and am afraid to try. In many ways, the show we "knew" only marks the very small timeframe of July-Sept. 2006. We have talked about "jumping the shark" countless times. And each time we focus on something different. Even today, the comment board regulars -- the happy go lucky crew that formed a backbone of loyal fans, is in mourning. Its painfully obvious (to us) that most of the original fans are gone. The phorum is on about the 5th wave of fans now.

Aww, CG! You made me get all teary! I really think you are pretty right though, sadly. I wish that this project did uphold what it promised in the beginning, but we realised that was never going to happen months ago. Jan is doing a pretty good job, but they should have gotten her (or someone like her) to help them ages ago. And in my opinion, I like the way they are trying to tie up lose ends, and involve more interaction - but I don't like to see LG go so ARGy. It just seems like such a big change that it's almost like a whole new series. To me Sarah is an enjoyable character to a degree but, in my opinion - not at all if she is a Breeplacement Lonelygirl. The end of the LG we all grew to love was/is inevitable, as we all know, but I can't help feel sad about it. I am happy that Jessica has been able to break into the industry through all of this, but without her playing Bree ( The Bree - not the psycho, drugged out Bree they have tried to make her into), the heart and soul of this production has gone. I don't think we'll know the exact moment LG kicked the bucket until there is actually a final and definite end to the series so that we can look back in retrospect. But we do know this - the death has been long, slow, drawn out and painful!

I miss old bree, I do. But they were so successful at turning me off with bitchyBree, actionBree, whinyBree, crazyBree, selfishBree, and everyotherBree that I'm kinda over her. I know, it's terrible. But from the time they were at Jonas' house, I've really sort of disliked her. And the dislike has even spread to Jess, so that I imagine Jess to be just like bitchyBree aka beaststompingBree. So not fair, I know. Bree was a great character. But that was so two seasons ago. Sarah reminds me of breeIdidnotlike, except I'm not invested in her. So, I like her this way. Annoying and over-the-top sometimes, yes. But cute and funny all the same. Maybe that makes me the lowest common denominator. But if so, i feel like I became it when the Bree got moldy. Not now because I like the sharp cheddar of Sarah. I think we have to accept that oldBree is long long gone. The Bree we need to weigh Sarah against at this point is the Bree we've seen lately. between newBree and Sarah, which do I want my daughter to be? I vote Taylor. if not, sterility for me.

I just dislike how Sarah appeals to the lowest common denomenator, as has been mentioned. Bree managed to be a beloved and awesome character in the most refreshing of ways, through intelligence and relative innocence. I was so drawn to the series because of what a different type of popular character she was. If Sarah is meant to be the new Bree as is being suggested here and the new one to lead the series, that's terribly disturbing because she's just not a sexual character, but a hypersexual beyond all reason type of character. You know, the kind of stuff the average youtuber loves. And the very opposite of what I think was the best in Bree and drew us to her. It's a disturbing fall back to reality.

Good points all, especially Jay's and Hye's. Both are valid, although my feelings are closer to Hye's... Jay is correct though, the original character was gone a long time ago.
I believe the c's have created a very successful anti-Bree, and perhaps that is the ONLY way they could go with it. No doubt that if they had tried to create a character more similar to her then you would have to sit through my rants about how she was a watered down version of the "original".
Perhaps they will develop her character into something more complex (and interesting) than a stereotypical teenybopper youtube video bimbo. I guess my point was that she is EXACTLY the kind of character that appeals to the LCD, which I find crass and boring.
I actually have been impressed that they have developed Joan into a somewhat interesting character, his Wife Beater Shirt intro vids were hardly stellar either...

Did anyone notice that the LG crew uploaded their 200th video this week? 200 variations of even the best Bree we ever knew (Lazy Eye, say -- smart, funny, innocent, vulnerable) would have stupefied even the most diehard fans.......no? Well, maybe not Hye . . . Tho I do pretty much agree with CG's LCD take on Sarah.... But notice that of all the IMS's that have come and gone since September (NoHOs, WEHOS, HOHOs, Lucy, etc etc) the only one that breaks (even occasionaly) through the rot of YT's most viewed page is LG..... In fact, Sarah even made it on her own yesterday ("Entertaining myself" on Taylor's account) without help from the LG subscribers or Bree's best smile.....that might be a first. So, bust the creators for goin with the flow . . . . but I seriously doubt they'd still be around (or we'd be talking about them) if they were posting Lazy Eye 102.3 this week......

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.I guess I thought the show was on a less traveled path. Now, I don't blame miles mesh and greg for what they hath wrought as of june 1, 2007. So many have done so much less, and with more resources. but there was a promise ... dare I say a hint of something extraordinary afoot at the outset. But, that is, if short-term internet-induced nostalgia hasn't warped my memory too much already. yet, they have a place in internet history already, no matter what high standards we held them to at 1st. remember last fall when we thought IMS were soon going to burst out and give TV a run for its money? obviously it hasn't happened. at least not yet. prom queen is the only thing to have had any success other than lg15 so far. and on youtube, lg15 is ONLY original episodic content that regularly makes the most viewed lists. and this happens despite all the YouTube naysayers. and it has happened with sarah -- thanks in part to an LCD approach and well-chosen screencap pics. (I know what boys like by Taylor and Sarah, posted on Taylor's account, also did fairly well, though many of the youtube viewers weren't yet aware of the lg15 connection.) no they wouldn't. you have to move forward, no matter where you go. And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.

Perhaps they will develop her character into something more complex (and interesting) than a stereotypical teenybopper youtube video bimbo. I guess my point was that she is EXACTLY the kind of character that appeals to the LCD, which I find crass and boring. I think Sarah is more complex than it seems on the surface. Blog entry from April 19: No surprise - that boy, ok his name is Jay, isn't returning my phone calls. I think he's afraid that I want to do more than just hook up. I don't. I guess he's probably used to girls calling all the time because they want a relationship. So thank you girls who call guys all the time for this reason! thank you for ruining them for girls like me who just want to hook up." However, she follows it up with writing blogs mentioning him on April 22, 23, 25, 29 all bemoaning the fact that he's ignoring her. Then, she calls Daniel her new man on the first day she meets him. " I have a new man. Sorta. Ok not really but I'm sure he'll come around. " and another day: "There is another guy, but I haven't seen him in awhile. I hope he's doing ok. I wish he'd talk to me more" and "All I can think about are my new friends and how they bailed on me. Why couldn't they have stayed here forever?" She ultimately follows them out to California. Kinda clingy (Jay, is that true? was she?) She's not the random hook-up girl. She's the Daddy complex girl. Desperate for the approval of a man. She blogs about how all her dad ever wants to do is Taylor stuff. Then, in "Entertaining Myself" Taylor tells her that dad called. Sarah just says "What did he say" but her voice gets kinda vulnerable sounding. Her oversexed behavior is irritating, but I think it's just bravado. I think she has a soft center. Actually, Taylor just may be the wolf in sheep's clothing.

Some very interesting insights "hooked"...all of them valid...all of them way to deep for .
Wait! Did I see somewhere that the new writer is a woman? If so therfe may be some complex character development...hmmmmm
(just a thought)
I should add that I agree with CG agreeing with Milo and JayHenry agreeing on some points that CG originally didn't really agree on; but now finds agreeable.
