Jeromy Barber's (the creator of Maddison Atkins) responses to the fan videos that were made asking questions about the series. Response One SummaryLurker's question by way of ignatzmouse www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6u4VnjIbpk Was there another fate for Maddison if we the players had done something differently? Response TwoSummaryMarlasinger's question. www.youtube.com/watch?v=be98ytUIiLw Considering how much Maddison was loved, will what's next be be good enough? Jeromy's Revver Channel:Find all responses here. one.revver.com/account/show/JeromyETA: There are now over 20 responses, including some from the actors who played Maddison and Adam! ------------ Wow, I have to say I love the way he is doing this. The game/story was handled really well, and now this chance for the fans to ask questions is a brilliant touch. I hope he gets what he wants out of this, as he is clearly very talented.

I'd like to put an aside in here, in watching his responses the gent clearly has a good sense of humour. It is very refreshing to see a lack of corporate coldness compared to that of the c's. He is the kind of creator I would like to have a pint with As a 'fan' I feel very locked out of the LG15 story. His answers are great, no wishy washy "Glad you enjoyed it, bye" crap but imo he really wants to explain some aspects. He did not need to do this and in choosing to he has done a clever/nice thing. That is true fan interaction. (Sorry for my absence peeps, I was on a week long binge at the Whitby Goth Fest)

two more replies are up: Question #3 one.revver.com/watch/256218A response to mistabroadway's question about how Glenn was involved with Maddison. Jeromy states that he followed OpAphid, but did not know Glenn otherwise. He managed to get in contact with Glenn, pitched him the Warpylol idea, shot some raw footage and then Glenn edited and posted the Warpylol video. He and Glenn have not discussed any future collaborations. Question #4 one.revver.com/watch/256232A response to Kellylen's question about whether it was Jeromy or Faye (the actress) who played Maddison in the chat. It was Jeromy behind all of the in-character interactions. His real life friends busted his balls about pretending to be a 19 yr old girl in a chat room.

This is the reason I was sucked into all of this in the first place, I wanted the chance to watch a new medium develop before my very eyes. I don't doubt his post that said he appreciated our comments, not that we are all that insightful.... Well mine anyway, but many of you are pretty bright. Ditto for the phorumites, although the noise/signal is pretty high there. I wonder how Scorsese or the like would react to this immediate (relatively anonymous and sometimes blisteringly negative) feedback? Not comparing him to Martin, just questioning the medium and the message (to bring back an old, but relevant, theme from VF) and the FEEDBACK. Compare that to Television Without Pity, who's forums are in such a lag time that they really don't have much of an influence/effect on the production. Interesting to watch the Learning Curve for IMS go on live-time... Very cool.

The chat was great. And if you read this, Jeromy, thanks again for hosting it. There will be a transcript posted of this chat in the phorum soon, for those who couldn't make it. Apparently Skunkwaffle is doing it, and it will be up hopefully by Tuesday. Good Ol' Skunk! It was really insightful to get perspectives from Jeromy and the actors of Maddison Atkins, Faye (Maddison), Jason (Adam) and Jason (the assassin). Jeromy even gave a few suggestions for how he would improve the LG15 plot. Now he is going to be hosting another chat with BK this Wednesday 8-9pm CST, in the LG15 chat. I think it's the one you link to from the main page, but I'm not sure. But if you have any questions for Jeromy, or are curious about anything that is not in-plot/in-game, I would recommend logging in!

I had a great time. Being available for questions and interactions is a crap shoot. Hopefully, it will be positive and not take away from the story. The chat had enthusiasm, good humor, and a lot of focus. Even though the format is often difficult to navigate, I found that people got to ask questions, get answers and give feedback on the responses.
Hopefully, and I'm sorry to sound idealistic, this will demystify the process for those destined to produce their own stories and games. The goals for coming around the curtain were to say "Hey. I'm just a guy." and hopefully that will foster others to make ARGs and such.
If nothing else, at least this brief period of interaction was fun for me. I really had a great time.
Thanks to anyone who has followed Maddison Atkins and/or hung out for this "In Front Of The Curtain" time we are sharing right now.
Jeromy

I think this 'out of the curtain' time is really positive, and for me personally it doesn't take anything away from the story. You have done really well to keep up your guard and hold on to the plot secrets, so that they don't really interweave.
The community can have a tendency to speculate on who is behind things, rather than what the story is all about sometimes and by coming out and telling us that you are just one guy, with a couple of students - not to take away from any of your talents, because you are all brilliant - but to say that, it has re-ignited my faith in achieving success as long as you have a solid and direct, or straightforward idea for a story, no matter your budget.
As an aspiring writer with a massive thesis to write, I've been a bit down lately, and something about this story has sparked some inspiration in me. So thank you.
And I am definitely interested to see what the next chapter brings.

And I am definitely interested to see what the next chapter brings. Agreed on all points Elixer. This young man has shown that it IS all about the attention given to telling a story. Sure, the ARG stuff can supplement it well and fuel the narrative but the story needs to drive the game. More than anything I appreciated the attention to details. They matter. It's really a shame that the most famous example of an IMS has bungled this part so badly. I hope potential investors, who DO pay attention to details like a sensible plot, will be encouraged by his first project and will kick in the bananas so he can launch a full-blown series.
