They sure like London, don't they. Are they actually going to go there and film or pull another Gemma? I mean it wasn't too hard to fake Gemma in London as she was rarely outside, but one would think if your main character is going to be there, unless she only vlogs from her room (doubtful) it's not really fakeable... unless she is only seen outside by that Gemma brick wall.

I bet Katers17 is thrilled with this development! I was kinda wondering about that. They obviously know about Katers...are they trying to make a connection? Are they just biting her style without cutting her in?

the creators statement, posted about an hour ago: www.lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8886Hey everyone, Just want to let you in on the good news since the press is breaking today. We are launching an LG15 spinoff in the UK! We formed a partnership with Bebo (www.bebo.com) and in July we're launching a completely new storyline featuring new characters that live within the LG15 universe. Think Angel vs. Buffy. It should be a lot of fun, and because we have a budget in advance we're going to be able to do a ton of interactivity and ARGish things. We'll keep you posted as we make our way through the production process. Thanks! Miles

chilly's? haha. i guess they don't read the ex-girlfriend project either. and they are really doing this in london i guess?! "The LonelyGirl team has not yet cast the show, and they are currently looking for London based writers and directors as well. But the big plot decisions and many of the episodes will be made and written by the original LonelyGirl15 team and Beckett said he will live in London for the duration of the shoot." Oh, BTW, i have never heard of Bebo.com before today? It is really a big thing?

Cool scoop Jay. Ok, Internet media PR lesson 101: Registered users mean squad! The metric to watch is active users, usually at a ratio of 1:10 vs registered. Citing registered just sounds better in print.
The deal is kinda obvious. Bebo is falling behind, as MySpace has just started rolling out in Europe and are grabbing their piece of the pie it seems. So, Bebo (which are technically a little challenged, but have some neat features) obviously needs a big story. PromQueen on MySpace, KateModern on Bebo.
The ting that doesn't quite make sense to me is, the c's are continually saying they're over-stretched and admit freely (to no suprise) that product placement deals are ridiculously hard to setup. Bebo already has advertiser relation so that would go down easier in packaging media deals (I know from experience that branding packages and especially editorial embedding is the sweetness right now). But still, if they can't quite get LG15 to take off, how are they going to manage a side-project.
I see only two options really. LG15 will get shafted in some way, or more likely, they just sold the first IMS franchise to an operation in the UK, who will actually produce the series rubbing off the LG15 brand.
Just like the YT audience does not migrate to LG15, I am not so sure that KateModern will drive huge amounts of traffic to Bebo. I have no idea how much money they dumped on this, but I hope it's not too much.

Very few people here in the UK are aware of the goings on, on the tube. Taking a project to bebo seems like a bold move, perhaps the whole IMS thing might take off here, and then people might understand some of the stuff I ramble on about...?

I have seen bebo ads online but never heard from it apart from that o.O
Wixy: I got an odd moment the other night. Chatting to a pub mate on msn and mentioned LG15, he has been following it all.

I've heard of Bebo. There seem to be quite a few of these different MySpace type sites. Friends of mine have invited me, but there are so many I haven't really joined anything but MySpace - which I cannot seem to work out for the life of me! I couldn't find a KateModern profile on Bebo - though I'm not really sure how to look for it. There doesn't appear to be one on MySpace yet, so I guess it's a matter of time before someone snaps that up! www.youtube.com/profile?user=katemodern This account was registered on YouTube in January, so it could be legit. Oh yes, and "Buffy vs. Angel"? GROAN! GROAN! GROAN!
