Well CG........not often the coyote disagrees with the Simian, but this does seem new to me.....We've heard the concepts before, but this makes LG seem like a long rehearsal with KM the actual production, fully realized before it hits the boards. I hope it succeeds..... oh, btw, is cleavage (modest, true) part of the standard CEO dress code in the UK these days?

I'm totally down with the Hawwwt CEO look Wily! I really do think that LG has been a dress rehearsal, and I imagine the c's have learned quite a bit with LG. As they truly started with no experience, I can't see how they could not have.
Nowwwwwww, the question remains as to if they are really going to pull something professional off or is it going to be a "mess" like this thing has become?
I also hope that it succeeds, I am (duh) hooked on this format and want it to take off. If for no other reason than to have a more legitimate reason to hang around with the likes of you all. The Cove has for a LONG time been the best part of this whole thing!

George: I think they've been functioning at a professional production level with LG since they hired the new writers. Notice that Mesh does all the directing now, Jan the writing, Kevin the editing, etc. Hence the uptick in quality these past few weeks (even if you don't care for the storyline). Much of the "mess" in this humble Coyote's opinion was caused by the holes they've dug themselves into, and the misjudgements (Glen for instance) and missteps along the way....hardly damnable since they were learning and experimenting as they went, and in some cases, inventing from scratch (a lot of what they do routinely now didn't even exist nine months ago). While I'm not crazy about the LG story at this point, I wouldn't call the production unprofessional..... au contraire as French coyotes are known to howl on occasion....

Thanks for your thoughful post Wily, indeed many of your points are valid. I posted a LONG time ago (in the middle of one of my phorum rants) that watching this thing was similar to me to watching a child grow up. Complete with a toddler's stumbles and falls. Kinda cool to watch something like this evolve, warts and all...
I do think that they are more polished now, but I am not sure that the LG project can ever be redeemed, at least not plot wise. As you said, they made a lot of bad choices along the way that can never be "fixed". But hey, the phorumites don't seem to care the least. I am NOT the target market, and neither are many (most, if not all) here. Perhaps we are too demanding... And yes, I doubt that many who were so engaged by the first twenty five eps care much for the current storyline. There are so few of us left at this point, but hey it's been an interesting ride.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing what they do with this new project and watching how it evolves.

George: My prediction. LG will evolve into more of an ensemble production and move away (entirely?) from Bree's issues driving the storyline to fresh (Sarah grows up/next new girl) and probably intersecting storylines which will finesse all the old plot holes as older fans give up on them while newer fans won't even know that there was/is a dead/not dead dad, etc. Call it Season Four.....or Six ...... or who cares?

We seem to be having a two "animal" show here Wily. I'm going to go out on my branch and ask you if you are associated with the production. Care to share? I don't think that this a prediction you made, I think that is already happening. The plot holes ("mess") will never be filled. Most of the current phans do not care about the quality of a logical narrative and are only interested in the salacious vid du jour or the latest "clue" that never leads to anything. As our eminent rapper will so rightly remind us, it is what it is though and there is no going back. Thomas Wolfe anyone? I think that is a bad precedent though and does not speak well for the audience or the creative team. If even the most insipid WB drama ever had this shoddy a record of narrative quality, it would have been laughed off the screen. My point is that the bar has been set very low by this project (from a narrative standpoint). In other ways it has been very successful. Kind of. I am more concerned that this is a reflection of the poor educational backgrounds of the fans and their resultant low expectations of what constitutes a good "story". The good news is that Eisner's PQ has set the bar a lot higher and will no doubt lead to more of these things being produced. Back OT, I for one hope that the c's have learned some valuable lessons and do not repeat all of these past mistakes with KM.

George: Do we know how successful PQ has been? I haven't seen any figures.
As for the lowering of bars, you've probably noticed that the most viewed page on YT is now dominated by the salacious or sensational . . . even their "partners" don't seem to make it there these days. When was the last time you saw LisaNova or Renetto or Boheme or Hill on the most viewed. It's the tragedy of the commons, I expect: the LCD crushing everything in its path. As I've said before, while I wish the c's had taken another direction (nuance, character, intelligence) I can't really say it would have kept them viable.

Not sure about the PQ numbers Wily, the production does seem to be very well done though. Well scripted, shot, and edited. Also with no-name actors! It is very "sexy" though but does not have any gaping plot holes. Sorry, but if you can't tell that is my biggest gripe with LG... Well, one of them.
I agree about the LCD and it's impact on all of our culture, not just this little piece of it. No doubt the "(nuance, character, intelligence)" that attracted me in the first place is the reason why I get cranky about the current state of affairs. It makes this decent into the LCD more annoying to know that the c's DO have the ability to produce an intelligent and well-written production.
Paraphrasing Lord Acton: Hollywood tends to corrupt; absolute Hollywood corrupts absolutely.

i had overlooked this thread before in my travels. a quite enjoyable read.
as for PQ, I'm not sure of the real numbers, but the univeral press spin is that (1) its been well-viewed, and (2) its been profitable from day one. So, I think we'll see more from that crew. I think the real long term PQ audience is probably similar to lg15 (25-50K max), with various vids that get broader exposure. PQ and LG15 are really coming at this from opposite ends. PQ is taking TV drama and adapting it to short-attention span internet viewers, and LG15 is taking short form internet vlogging and using it to do a drama.
as for what gets the most views, yes the LCD is probably the wave of the future. And American Idol will always dwarf the audience of LOST.
i still retain hope for the future of the lg15 plotline, though my hope is not based on anything logical. sadly, it will not seem to rely on jessica rose. i think back to the plot discussion thread we had awhile ago, where someone said -- OK, how would you resolve all these problems, with limitations like that Bree can't return to her room. No one posted a good answer. I think there ARE solutions, but they won't be easily created in a forum thread.
