The one possibility that crossed my mind is that they filmed this vid and only this vid recently to difuse any "this was all filmed earlier" criticism. Notice, for example, that there was no plot movement in this one and seemed like a break from the others, which were pretty plot heavy. I'm doubtful of this, but it's a possibility. Yeah, Mettle. That shot in particular makes me think it probably is current. Also, Daniel's hair looks somewhat longer to me. I think they just did that for the fans, to say, "Yes, we are still shooting." Which I believe they are.

I think the "Cookie Monster" video is very special because, unlike any earlier video in the series, it gives the distinct impression that Bree and Daniel are deliberately communicating with us on at least two distinct levels.
On one level we have the explicit, admitted content of the video: Bree and Daniel hold a cookie contest based on commenters' suggestions after the "Peace Offering" vid. Bree tastes and commentates, Daniel reads his magazine, and Purple Monkey announces the scores. A good time is had by all. Bye!!!!
On the second level, which is less explicit but no less deliberate, we have, for the first time, a blatant on-screen response to the doubters and the would-be debunkers. During the first seven seconds of the video, Daniel sits in the background, holding up the cover of the current issue of Rolling Stone in a pose that's clearly contrived to show the thing off. (See milowent's screencap, above.) Then Bree reads off the names of two commenters to her "Peace Offering" video and mentions the contents of their comments, thus giving another proof that the current video is being filmed some time after the "Peace Offering" vid was posted. Taken together, the magazine cover and the descriptions of recent comments send a clear, though unspoken, message: We can still make Bree-and-Daniel videos in Bree's bedroom in "real time." Bree and Daniel still look like Bree and Daniel, and Bree's room still looks like Bree's room, and we're all out there somewhere in the real world at this moment. So, ha!
To my mind, the introduction of this "second level" of communication in the lonelygirl15 series indicates a willingness of the creators (be they Bree and Daniel themselves, or anyone else) to engage the doubters in a playful challenge. Those who chose to take the videos at face value can watch them at the first level alone; but those who question their origin and their realness will respond to the less explicit, second level as well, where they'll find challenges to their theories about the videos' true nature.
Finally, the clear introduction of this "second level" of communication in the "Cookie Monster" video makes it easier for me to believe that a third level of communication has been added as well. If it's true that Purple Monkey's score cards (10-12-06) were designed to communicate a date that will be significant in the series, then, in addition to the explicit content for everyone and the tacit challenges for doubters, we can also expect to find hidden clues into further plot developments. It will be very interesting to see whether communication at these second and third levels continues in further installments of the series.

Interesting coincidence: 10-12 is also the birthday of Michael Douglas' character Nick Somethingorother in the movie The Game, in which he gets involved in a live-action ARG. The usual double and triple-cross suspense movie where there are multiple layers of "reality". He is unable to discern between who's part of the plot and who isn't (spoiler: pretty much everybody is), and what's real and what isn't. The climax and final revelation of the whole scheme/game occurs on his birthday, 10-12, and that date is displayed on a placard shown in a scene in the reception hall at the birthday festivities.
No direct connection, probably, but a nifty coincidence nonetheless, if 10-12 turns out to be when significant plot details are revealed or it was the date when the creators had originally intended to out themselves.
Don't know if this has been posted before.

I had such a fun time investigating that RS cover via instant message with a friend who actually had it. She was able to determine which pages "Daniel" was reading at certain parts of the video and that the copy they had was different looking than our own. This certainly made us curious as to how that happened, the only explanation being that the in-store purchased magazine cover was a bit different than her mailed-out version to accomodate the address label. Other than that I have no idea why the covers would be different but they were (unless being in LA they had some sort of connection which got them an advance copy before they finalized the cover?)

The mysteries of the Rolling Stone... hehehe
Who knows. Maybe in different parts of the country/world the covers are printed differently? Or maybe they did get a copy of it before it was released.
But the most important thing here, is that it meant nothing except the episodes were current. But the whole "meaning nothing" thing is really significant considering the date meant nothing either! Grr... I wonder how this date will pass in the Breeniverse this year? Do you think Emma's ceremony (assuming she is going to have one) might be building up to it? That would kinda suck. It would be like a slap in the face, like they are trying way to hard to make her into Bree 2.0.
I don't know if they would do that, but still I'm curious to see if they do anything relating to this date again.
