I don't find it that odd that a 16 year old would know about 80's stuff- all the teenagers I know love the 80's Having a teenager myself, I'm gonna have to disagree with that at least as far as the 15-16 year old set goes. The retro 80's thing was really in a couple few years ago..not as much now. Plus, it amazes me that whenever someone mentions a movie to her she's always "Oh, I love that movie!"...but her myspace says, "I don't watch much TV or movies. But I do love Napoleon Dynamite, The Notebook, Wizard of Oz. Old comedies like Laurel and Hardy and the Marx Brothers (yes, my parents influence! I'm such a dork)" You would be surprised then if you came over to where I live. The 80s is still in, well the 80s style. These teenagers around here can't get enough of the 80s and well emo. Also who doesnt lie on myspace. I see some of my friends myspace and Im like what the heck they don't party and do hardcore drugs. So yea maybe she has seen alot of movies but doesnt actually watch movies/television that much, it doesnt take everyday 24-7 to have seen a bunch of movies.

thanks for all the thoughts on the knowledge of 80s culture among the teens of today. very interesting.
when i was a teen in the 80s, we had no internet with which to became familiar with the intricate details of the 60s without real effort.
if there was a "Better Off Dead" type film in 1965, who knew that in 1985? But if teens today can say "I want my two dollars" and understand it, well that makes me bizarrely happy.

So yea maybe she has seen alot of movies but doesnt actually watch movies/television that much, it doesnt take everyday 24-7 to have seen a bunch of movies. There are also two different realms of 'having seen a lot of movies.' There are old movies (i.e., only available on TV and DVD) and there are new releases (movies that have been in theatres in recent memory for the person in question). I think it's possible Bree would say "I don't watch a lot of movies" meaning "I don't get out to to see new movies in the theatre much". Though she also includes TV in her statement...I guess that leaves DVDs or the internet....She says she watches Family Guy clips on YouTube. It's possible that Daniel or other friends in the past have enlarged her understanding of pop culture, but when she was in NZ or the UK, that would make her privy to other non-American cultural items of interest. I guess it's just all fuel to the 'fake' fire...

Grillz feat. Danielbeast, LG15, P. Monkey, and O'n (June 25, 2006)www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pE9uwYqbQsViews as of Aug 29, 2006: 182,123 Current number of views: 529,823 Comments: 1. This video was filmed before the calendar and some other little things were placed on bree's wall. thus, the wall to the right of the bed is completely barren. You can also tell that Daniel is standing so that he blocks the air conditioner (back right of the room) in some shots. 2. This video is not available on revver to due to copyright reasons. 3. Bree calls PMonkey a "he" for the first time in the video comments. 4. A year ago (and going back to the earliest days on youtube, really), lip-synching videos were staples on youtube. (like smosh's pokemon vid, and tasha's Hey clip (which is also big because the pixies are bigger now then they ever were in the 1980s.) 5. most recent youtube comment for this video: singup2007 (45 minutes ago) hey lonelygirl & others.. do more THIS!! this is good stuff or better 6. when jessica rose was revealed some of the behind-the-scenes pics came from the filiming of this video:

Not my favorite video, but I liked P. Monkey and Owen with their grillz. When this video came out I still hadn't started watching the series. Sadly, the series had already jumped the shark a couple of times by the time I was caught up. And it's jumping a row of monster trucks and stegosauruses right now.

This was always my least favorite video and what I felt was a big chink in the LG15 armor. I mean a young innocent SHELTERED girl like Bree knowing all the lyrics to a rap song? Way back before the reveal I was saying that I thought we were seeing the "real actress" here instead of "Bree", and sure enough that's what it was. I'm surprised they made this because it really cast doubt on the story they were trying to put forward of Bree being a sheltered girl.

I think this was the first Lonelygirl15 video I saw, I was new to YouTube having stumbled on it a few weeks earlier looking for Steven Colbert clips, this video I remember made it into the most viewed list, so I watched it and promptly forgot it, not making the connection to "LG15" till later, not knowing what that was at the time.

compared to jonas' new video tonight, you can see how far the series has morphed. while hye is right that it seemed odd for innocent bree to do a video like this, for some reason i felt them doing a lip-sync WAS really believable. she didn't shake her booty like sexxiebebe23, so it's not nearly as raunchy as it could have been. and i really dislike rap music, so its all bree that made me like it.
i am not sure why they made this video. after this was posted, however, there was a 9 day gap (until July 4, 2006) before the next lg15 video, which was "My Parents Suck." there may have been some gap in filming.

Seeing as I'm 19 years old...I can say when I was 16-17 I knew A LOT about the 60s, 70s, and 80s...I may be an exception to the rule, however. I know when I mention "Young Frankenstein," "SpaceBalls," or Molly Ringwald I get blank stares. (I'm more fond of the 70s than the 80s, btw. I've been told even by my father that I probably should have been a teen when he was. hahaha.)

hee heee seeing as though I am 49 years old I don't remember a thing about the 60's, the 70's are blurred beyond any real recognition and I spent the 80's in cloud of cocaine and Tanqueray. I may be an exception to the rule however.
Just playing Matsie....I am in a mood for some reason

I'll be telling my kids the same thing when I get older, just change the decades.
