Or is it just a vlog? And what, really, is the difference?
Katers is sorta cute. On a scale of 1 to Jess Rose she'd be about a 6.5. That, along with the fact that she puts effort into her vlogs, puts her a cut above almost everyone on YouTube.
Certainly an IMS has room for non-fiction and fiction. Somebody who uses their camera to tell a focused story about their own lives would deserve in conclusion.
Where does Katers fit. (And I'm not saying take her off, I'm just asking the question.)

the S in IMS stands for story be it real or fake I totally agree. Like I said, "IMS has room for non-fiction and fiction." And I also said, "I'm not saying take her off." But I thought a discussion on where the line is drawn could be interesting.

Personally I don’t want to draw a line. I would like to keep the definition of what an IMS is to be as open ended as possible. IMS describes the medium, the internet, and not the content. We will, as time goes by develop different genres within IMS to better categories things. Obviously things like LG and NoHoGirls would be in a different genre than Katers, but they are both communicating using the same tools. This definition will allow for massive inclusion of varied stories as well as ways to tell those stories (they will not even have to be video).
I do think it will be difficult to decide what to include and what not to. I think the best way to do this is to let it be via either audience interest or editorial interest. If one of those exists I think it is a good idea to have a place to keep track of it.

My own refined thoughts about what "IMS" means is any episodic internet video production, regardless of whether it is truth, fiction, or somewhere in-between.
Potentially that definition covers all vbloggers. Katers17 fits either way to my thinking.
IMS doesn't cover silentpatriot-type youttubers who just post CNN & Foxnews clips and the Colbert Report (the original purpose of youtube!). Or coke&mentos type vids.
i agree with terry that we should let "either audience interest or editorial interest" guide us.

Internet Mini-Series (IMS):Serial storytelling medium using a webcam which tells a story in a limited number of webisodes. Differs from a vlog in that there is a pre-determined story line, although that story may change along the way. So, how do I revise this in the Lexicon? What is the right definition? Obviously webcam comes out since one could use different equipment. But I do think the whole point of it being a series is that there is a "story" or script. Does Katers have a script or story? I would have classified LG15 as a vlog until the middle of the series as there didn't *appear* to be a storyline.

Anthologies qualify as series just as much as pieces which are fully plotted. I would expand, but it's four minutes and counting until NANO FEVER!

I am wondering whether IMS is still the best term to use. Consider Mini Series. That implies a TV format of a limited-time run of an enclosed story.
Which shows does this really capture? Sh7F and Prom Queen only, really. I still like 'Web Serial' better, because it is more inclusive of things like LG15, Katers17 etc.
I also agree though that the term should not imply drama or scripted production. Anything that is a series of somehow connected clips will apply. Katers17 kinda makes the cut, Renetto's ramblings don't, IMHO.

it's already been invented....the word. Webisode. Webisode seems inadequate to me -- it seems that "Losing My Religion" is a Webisode in the Lonelygirl15 XXX. But are you suggesting that it would be okay to say, "Losing My Religion" is a video in the Lonelygirl15 Webisode?

Lonelygirl15, Samhas7Friends, and Prom Queen are all webisodes.
"Losing My Religion" was an episode of the Lonelygirl15 Webisode.
