I'll beg against logic for fun, and assume that since CAA are US-based, "they" went elsewhere for the content. Going local would make it all too easy to figure out, if this were a staged event.
Anyone with the cleverness to pull this media storm off, let alone end up with world-class reps would not be limited to a backyard California production. The conflicting accents make one assume it might be USA, but it could be anywhere. =^..^=

I'm still going with my guess that the CAA connection is due to the fact that someone on this project works at CAA, like in the mailroom or answering phones, and they email from work

I just hope that all the businesses being implicated in this are appreciating the publicity they're getting. Which, oddly enough, is CAA's modus operandi.. wouldn't it be brilliant to use your own strategies to promote your name to the public in a cute way, especially when so many of your headline-grabbing clients end up arrested, screaming at the press, or various other messes? No such thing as bad publicity, in the media business. =^..^=

If its California I think they must have just moved there because even now no one has come forward to say I know her or I know him.

She's in New Zealand.
The CuriousBotanist was fake, intended to divert attention away from her real location. How convenient that he popped in and explained it all just after the swimming video, never to be heard from again. New Zealand has turquoise swimming holes and spiky plants, just like southern California.
No one in America recognizes her as a neighbor, babysitter, churchgoer, cousin or classmate...? C'mon people, that oughtta tell you something.
I am doubting the whole IP thing now too, unless we see screenshots of the actual traceroute. What was shown was only a screenshot of a whois lookup. Going forward, nothing will be accepted by the more skeptical of us without verifiable proof.
Leave no stone unturned. You can't fool all of the people all of the time.

Well if that's the case though perplexed, why have all signs pointed to California? I don't understand why the creators would want us to think they are FAKE unless they reall are. I mean sure, perhaps they are fake but for a different reason than they are, but regardless they admitted to being fake and caused a revolt against them. If they were trying to deceive us, that means they're actually real, which they aren't, so why would they admit this? Don't forget the convenient timing, the confession came out RIGHT before the LA Times article.

Yes, its 'fake', its a production, and they admitted that. This thread is about her location. If CAA is connected, it could be that they are their handlers, answering all the emails, but the videos are being made elsewhere. Someone on the other board commented that Bree had Myspace pictures up of NZ - one of a waterfall and one of feet sitting or lying at a beach. The poster even felt that they could identify the name of the one place. Those pictures were taken down. I wonder why? Next thing you'll see is her comment about hiking in NZ disappear..

Not to be ignorant but...does New Zealand have a Target?

I don't know if NZ has a Target because Target.com's store locator feature only includes US states. I think it's safe to say that, given the large amount of Target merch. in their videos, a Target must be accessable from where they are shooting.
Also, I understand from the above post by perplexed that NZ has spiney plants and swimming holes...but, I still strongly believe that it is southern/central california (due only to my own 23+ years of living there, not any geological/botanical expertise).
Also, (this is totally due to my own ignorance) what side of the street do people drive on in NZ? I think that since Daniel was driving on the RIGHT side of the road we can safely assume that the swimming video was filmed not in the UK or AUS.
