Why would they want to do that? I could see that two months ago when things were so out of control but not now.

I really have no clue- it was something I'd never thought of. Aparently JessRose was contacted by L&O's people during the wired interview, and was told not to answer the call. Or something like that. Unless............ ******L&O SPOILER********* Daniel is really faking this whole order thing, just like their "daniel" did (faking a kidnapping)

What? They turned down the L&O people? They are just plain idiots. I am beyond disgusted with LG15.

If they were asking Jess to do it I'm sure she would have wanted to, though I guess maybe her contract wouldn't let her cause that would screw with fans. We know how delicate some of those phorumites are.

If she was offered a role on L&O but had a contract that stopped her from being able to do it, then M&M rank up there with the biggest jerks in the world not to waive it. Getting a role on L&O would be a huge break for an actor’s career and I for one couldn’t imagine being so selfish as to telling someone to turn down the role because I didn’t want to slow production on my little show.
I don’t really think Jess was offered the role and more likely was called as a consultant

Just watched a torrent version, very insightful and highly recommended! Notes in no particular order:
The dressing down of the student "Miles" by the film academy prof for being amateurish and lacking any depth. Also a rant about lack o' plot. Hee. As this served no purpose to the L and O plot, it could not have been anything else but an editorial comment by the L and O Creative team. Miles got spanked by the big boys. Ouch.
The "Key" is mashed up with Bree - Willow - Reservoir Dogs.Creative!
If I were Jess and Yousef I would not be so pleased with the portrayal of the vloggers. All were portrayed as shallow and narcissistic. Kinda mean, and this is coming from me...
The accompanying website, cool idea.
This whole thing reinforces my incessant posting that the major media are watching LG15 very closely and learning from the creators blunders. They will step in soon with a well crafted IMS, with all the interactive bells and whistles done right.

Yeah, I couldn’t stop laughing when the film professor was making fun of WeepingWillow. You could try to argue that it was also a commentary on how students of old media (film) simple reject new media (internet) and cannot see any merit in it. I think it was more of what you suggested though. I was impressed with the amount of detail, the person that wrote this episode was clearly a serious fan (or just did their homework) and didn’t just read a headline. This whole thing reinforces my incessant posting that the major media are watching LG15 very closely and learning from the creators blunders. They will step in soon with a well crafted IMS, with all the interactive bells and whistles done right. I could not agree more, I am starting to think more and more than LG is not going to be much more than a footnote in the history of IMS.

Interesting. Can somebody give a summary of that show to us who haven't seen it? Is this a blatant rip-off, or a tribute? Is this plagiarism, btw? I mean if you actually just copy Miles et. al. story? Or could they play the satire card and get away with it?

Interesting. Can somebody give a summary of that show to us who haven't seen it? Is this a blatant rip-off, or a tribute? Is this plagiarism, btw? I mean if you actually just copy Miles et. al. story? Or could they play the satire card and get away with it? Official summary: After popular on-line vlogger Willow is kidnapped during a live broadcast, Logan and Wheeler investigate the crime that they doubt may have ever occurred. As they attempt to track down the real identities of Willow, her boyfriend Holden, and the kidnappers, someone ups the ante by asking for an online ransom for the couple, demanding fans go to a website to save the duo. The investigation takes a turn when a former classmate of Holden's shares a screenplay he wrote about a cyberkidnapping that is eerily similar to the weepingwillow17 saga.
The character "Miles" was a film school student who was rebuked by a professor for sloppy work. I believe he compared his editing style to masturbation of some sort. And no, I am NOT making that up.... Tribute, no I don't think so. Plagiarism, no the plot was not the (my so called) plot of the LG15 crew. If you don't watch any of the L & O franchise Vanilla, they base a lot of the eps on current events. "Ripped From the Headlines" is the tagline. Terry's comments above are correct. The person who wrote this script did a LOT of homework on this or is indeed a fan. I find it fascinating that they chose to rank on "Miles" and am VERY curious what the origin of this is... I notice that the phorum does not contain any "We are so popular" posts by the creators and the negative points had not been brought up, except my some cheeky monkey over there. One issue may be that most of the fans were involved in the Chat Phorum Phiasco, but the negative comments about "Miles" are pretty hard to miss. It's not just a shout out, it's a scream out. Wonder who HE pissed off...

L&O is always based on a semi-current news story. It's neither a tribute, or plagiarism. Just how they get their ideas.

Actually dressing down a neophyte filmmaker named "Miles" for sloppy plotting isn't simple coincidence in my world.

Thanks guys. Have never seen L&O, so their MO wasn't familiar. No, that seems a pretty clear shout out then. Sounds pretty nasty to me, guess he really ticked some people off. Maybe when they were making the rounds hawking their wares? Or an old buddy serving an extra-cold platter of payback snacks?
Oh, the yummy, yummy gossip, wonder if we'll ever learn more about this.
