Gemma is always too upbeat for me. She has this permanent, plastic sort of Barbie smile on her face at all times. I don't know, but for some reason, I really don't enjoy watching her videos. I'm not sure if her accent is real either, it sounds kind of... fake. I could explain why, but then I might have 50 Brits yelling that this American here (me) knows nothing about English accents. All in all, I've never been thoroughly impressed with her videos. They're... boring and she tries too hard to imitate Jessica.

The stuffed animal talk is just too much. Teenagers don't talk about stuffed animals like this. (Jess tell the M and M team that when you were breally 17 you didn't take your stuffed animals to the hotel pool).
Wanker (according to paperlilies) is a very strong word (like the M.F. word here) and only used as a major insult.
Gemma, was just a little too happy for her friend being a run away and total outcast now. How about offering her a little "help" or a place to stay?

Monkey a M*****F*****! Remember way back when Bree dropped an F Bomb on Daniel when they argued about religion? Whole response videos were dedicated to it. The main video thread on lonelygirl15.com has a lot of debate about the use of wanker. I wish for another Lonesome October video so P.Monkey can refute these allegations.

Milo, YES! That would have been hilarious! "That P Monkey, what a M*****F**** he is."
I would have fallen off my seat!

It's been mentioned on the comments for this video that the use of the word wanker might be Gemma's way of waving a red flag for bree about her video.

She also called PM a fragile little geezer. Geezer is the slang that always stumped me. Turns out it's used like "dude" most of the time.
Is the phorum really in a huff about "wanker"? Or is it just that she called PM a wanker. They luvs the pmunk! Of course, so does Bree so maybe Gemma is trying to provoke Bree? Will Bree be phurious?
So, Is Gemma still acting more like fan fiction? She doesn't seem able to really change the course of the plot. She can make suggestions from the sidelines, but she's not really involved. Bree acknowledged her video then moved on. I think she may still just be an example of what they are expecting from the responses like it was suggested. She can show up with her comments, a few cute stories, and some Bree-like fun facts, but not really contribute. I dunno...I'm wondering how scripted she is. I guess we'll know how much impact she has on the story if they take her advice and don't actually do anything but soak in the pool....forever.
regarding payola... That was one of my suggestions for LG15 merch...personalized videos. I'm not sure how it would work, but it seems like "other" webcam people seem to make a few dollars doing it. I think it'd be kinda cool. "Soooooo, My religion doesn't celebrate Christmas, but have a happy Winter Solstice, trash180...you MF!" I'd buy one.

Wanker is not a big deal in the UK.
It can used to describe someone who is slightly silly. Not at all on a par with the MF word. I know these things vary between countries but we must assume Gemma is using the London vernacular
I'd say as rough guide in the UK bad to worst: (out of 10)
Bloody/Crap 2 Shit 3 Wanker 4 Bastard 5 F word 7 MFer 8 C word 10
Having said that, it was the highlight of her latest waffle!
"Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine? It's not your decison, it's your decison."
I can't see where Jackie Jandrell is going with this stuff. It's not enough to be pretty with large eyes and big cheeks. You have to act it, be convincing, and add to the drama.
What I found engaging about Jessica Rose was she sucked you in with the sincerity of her expression. She lived the moment. This Gemma may be more "attractive" according to some but I just can't believe a word she says.
I'm sorry if that goes across people's view because I have seen some people do like Gemma, but I'm just telling it as I see it.

hi. I'm super tired of Gemma's overuse of cliche british words. I have been to England, I have British friends, I haven't heard wanker and bloody and all that crap used as much as she uses it. It's like, trying to compensate for the lack of an accent. Super lame. gemma's gotta go.

I wonder what the average age of an LG15 viewer is. This video really seemed targeted towards kids, but maybe it was just the trademark cuteness was a little off its mark?
I'm certain that if the writing in the Gemma videos were more natural (including the British word choice) then there would not be such a focus on her accent and her appearance. If she's putting on an accent and failing, that's a valid criticism. A bad accent in a movie is one of my pet peeves. But I got the impression that her mixed accent was the actress's real accent. Until someone proves otherwise, I find the discussion pointless. As for the focus on her physical appearance, some like her, some don't, some make backhanded compliments. Can we please move on? We're more mature than that. *end sermon*

"Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine"? This has to be the dumbest advice of all time. After she just told the story about the family disappearing forever, what are Bree and Daniel supposed to do, spend the rest of their lives on the run in some random LA motel? Did her parents stuff, like, 75 grand inside P.Monkey? I cracked up reading this and imagining Gemma telling Bree, essentially "ok, good work, keep on living out of a motel forever, without any money to your name, no ability to pay for it, and without the ability to report your parents missing because the authorities are all in on it, good work! Pretty soon you'll make it through!" If she wants to help, Gemma should invite them to hide out in England.

The big problem is that they're using Gemma for expository dump. They're telling us stuff they ought to be showing us. I'm sure this is because of the maxed-out cards and the budgetary contraints WHATEVER, but it is severely damaging the production's narrative line.

OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!
This can't speak, can't act, monstrosity is killing LG!
I was watching the first 40 seconds then, thinking 'She's not even bothering at all in the slightest with the accent now. Maybe the creators have just accepted that she sucks and got her to stop.'
BUT
Then we have 'wanker' and 'geezer' crowbarred in.
I take it all back! If she says geezer, then she must be English! How could I have been so wrong?
Creators: If you're trying to run this into the ground because you're too gutless to pull the plug and admit that you've completely lost direction, then this is the right way to do it.
Gemma is awful - and as harrowing as I'd find it, I think I'd rather watch two minutes of an aborted pig foetus twitching than any more of this crap.

I thought her reference to the stuffed animals and that Olympic sport was a comment on Bree and Daniel’s situation. They have to stay still and hold their breath until something happens.
“stay put, and soak in the pool” = “dive into the pool, remain rigid and float as far as they can”

I thought her reference to the stuffed animals and that Olympic sport was a comment on Bree and Daniel’s situation. They have to stay still and hold their breath until something happens. That makes sense, good thought. I still feel that the Creators are trying to drop clues into these last few videos -- the reference to Alaska following the Adak Island map a few weeks ago, the references to longitude, but i can't made any sense out of it. ---- Different topic, saw this LPpedia reference: lonelygirl15.com/lgpedia/index.php/WankerWanker A word that was used more than 240 times in one day by LG15 fans on 11-13-06.On this date, forum discussion fell to a new level of low, as the majority of participants were feeling varying levels of crankiness about having to watch another "Gemma video." Several references were made to sources such as the "urban dictionary," and "Wikipedia." British and australian LG-15 fans expressed their utter dismay at the ignorance of Americans, hardly believing they had never come across the word, or that we were so intensely displeased with this insult being given to a stuffed animal. Posts #391 & 393 by Jim have hopefully cleared this up. Please refer back to them for clarification!!!
