Lonelygirl15 Creators Woo Mad Ave, Launch Production Co. ClickZ News By Zachary Rodgers | December 1, 2006 Greg Goodfried, one of the creators of scripted video blog Lonelygirl15, has a message for the advertising community: Bree, the show's moon-faced and home-schooled main character, will hawk your wares. "Bree is a fictional character, but she lives in the real world," Goodfried told ClickZ. "She interacts with products on a daily basis. She has to use a cell phone. She has to drive a car." Goodfried and Creative Artists Agency, the talent agency representing Lonelygirl15, have recently begun shopping the episodic show around Madison Avenue. They're seeking to cut ad deals for the breakout Web hit which for a few weeks last summer became mandatory viewing for Web video addicts and a topic of fascination for media columnists everywhere. ...read full story

OMG. Spinning out of control. And here is an article I found that was posted yesterday, maybe helped get the other 2000 subscribers? www.ew.com/ew/article/reuters/0,24012,1564384_10_0_,00.html Sorry it won't link right, copy and paste... In that article, it actually says ... "Steven Starr, founder and CEO of viral-video outlet Revver, begged to differ. "From our point of view, we see creators develop with no intention of going offline," he said. "(Internet actress) Lonelygirl15 is making a substantial amount of money on a weekly basis just by being online." That is before any ad shopping. What a bunch of whores.

OK, here's why people hate attorneys. Greg didn't say "unique" visitors. Just visitors. Some of them happened to be repeat visitors, people coming to the site, and then coming back again, after, oh say, 5 seconds. Just because you assumed he means unique visitors, well that's too bad. :-)

Mmmm... really President Clinton?
If he had said 350,000 visits then, okay, I'd agree.
But he said 350,000 visitors. If your interpretation is correct than the statement, "I, JayHenry, am over 1,000 visitors" would also be correct. I made over 1,000 visits, but I am clearly only one visitor.

I almost referenced Clinton in my post.
OK, point two. The article did not quote Greg. Maybe he'll claim he didn't say that. The press gets details like this wrong all the time.

Who was the ultimate source of the 350,000 figure? Was it Miles/Greg, or was it Todd or even Jason?

Lost in all the outrage is the new revelation in the article that the LG folks actually have a company, Telegraph Ave, and what sounds like a business model.
From the Clikz News: "..., it marked the first project from Web video production company Telegraph Ave. Productions, the latest offering from LG15's co-inventors, Miles Beckett and Mesh Flinders. The firm will develop new series and provide marketing support to generate online buzz for traditional film and TV releases, and may do work for other verticals as well."
So, what do you folks think of it? The business model I mean. Myself, I like the name....go Bears!

"Develop new series and provide marketing support .... for tradional film and TV releases?"
I never said I was a smart person, but I can't wrap my head around what that means. Can you explain a little more?

Far as I can tell, it means they'll create new ( non-LG) IMS's which presumably would attract advertising, as well as develop online promotional videos for tv and film. Don't have a clue what a "vertical" is....

Well, to steal from the recent Law & Order episode, but if they had signed up with L&O and had actually produced those WeepingWillow videos over a couple weeks and then had the kidnapping followed by the L&O episode... well that would have been cool and I think that is the idea.
