I agree. All evidence points to this new charater being the real deal. Even the editing style is the same. It looks like this new girl might be giving us more insight on Bree's past and religion in future videos. Good show! ;D

Yeah, watching it again, the editing and tone of Gemma's vid is perfectly consistent with the LG vids. It has the creators fingerprints all over it.
Gemma says, "it's very difficult to let outsiders understand everything. I personally couldn't deal with it. Which is why I moved to London." She doesn't say if she moved to get away from religion or to get away from outsiders, but I would assume get away from the religion. That would possibly foreshadow Bree becoming disillusioned with her religion.
Bree is so worried about Daniel because she believes her cult is not below disabling him from answering the phone either through physical harm or capture. That sounds like a nice group of folks. Daniel didn't even learn any secrets that we know of. The extremeness of this could trigger her disillusionment.

Edit: Oh Dear! Speaking of foreshadowing, Gem's video title "Nut Kills Man" does not bode well for Daniel!

Ok here go my insights:

Well.. To me Daniel going away is no big surprise.. Too many difficult questions to answer if someone comes knocking on his door.

And there is something else, his reason to do what he did was that he was worried about Bree... Well, It is obvious now that there was no reason to worry about Bree, just as she said. He just did not want to listen, he was so obsessed with "protecting" Bree that his mission became more important to him that Bree's right to privacy or the danger involved in breaking into Lucy's place.

Perhaps he was expecting Bree to finally find out how bad she needs him.. Right? Because she can't live without him.. Can she? Or it's just wishfull thinking?.. Gee! I can see myself 10 years ago reflected on those thoughts!

Anybody would expect Bree to phone in and ask the kind of questions that Daniel would not want to have to answer after she watched his video.. So the easiest thing is to run away for some days and hope everything would be forgotten by the time he's back. Without telling her anything he still could pretend to be in danger and bring attention to himself.

Also he would hopefully make Bree worry about him.. Maybe even feel guilty. Who knows, He may even play victim after all.

I think that's what any insecure and over-reacting teenager would think at least for the first days.. Remember Daniel back at home on his last video saying "What do they want from me?"

Time thou will inevitably bring common sense back to his mind and finally he would have to surrender to the obvious truth: You are not James Bond and there is no evil gang of assassins behind you, there is no princess who needs to be saved from death and the world would not stop turning if you decided to quit.

I think Bree will never buy on something like this. Girls are way sharper and skillfull dealing with feelings and that's how they can foresee the next step a guy is about to take even before he knows it himself.

She seems worried about Daniels feelings and what he could do about them, not about Daniel. To me she knows Daniel is deceived and hurt and she fears Daniel could take an immature attitude and blame her for what he feels. Bree does not wants to lose Daniel's friendship neither wants to be unfairly blamed for doing something she believes in devotedly.

She does not wants to feel bad either.. And by now she is patiently and silently suffering Daniel's cruelty vanishing and leaving her alone to deal with not-knowing.

So she knows it is a matter of time until she finds out about Daniel.. But she does not like this situation. She tries to deal with this in her playfull way, kind of letting herself flow, as she did for instance when she wanted to find out what kind of kiss did Daniel gave her exactly and its meaning.. Like she needed help!

So she opens her map and pretends to be Daniel wandering all over the United States.. But it is no fun anymore, not even PM can help.. She knows it will never be the same anymore: Back when they were just friends everything was a lot easy and simple, it was fun to observe Daniel's reactions when she picked on him and was nice to know he was around for she knew nothing was expected from her and she was free to be herself.. Daniel was a true friend.

Now.. There is more involved.. Choices have to be made and they may not be the ones you'd like and may not be understood by others.. One has to be careful with the interpretation and the effects everything may have.. And feelings are unclear and unspecific so you never now what you are actually dealing with.

It is so beautifull being innocent.. We all miss it.. Don't we?

She implies that she was in NZ or Australia, and for a reason related to what happens now to Bree and Daniel she moved to England. She also implies she knows about what's happening because she had trouble having "outsiders" understand.. So if she is not an outsider and she did not know Bree from Australia or NZ what are the chances they meet in UK??

What I mean is: Was bree taken from a "cult ghetto" in NZ to another in UK and now is in another in LA?

That would mean many things but the most important probably are:
- Bree is part of a cult with communities all over the world and they are all interconnected in such a way that members can move from one place in the world to another being always surrounded by fellow "believers". That would be a clear expression of the power and assets involved.
- Daniel is probably the first and the only outsider Bree has ever had friendship with and that makes Daniel a very important person in Bree's live but not for the reasons Daniel would wish.

I think you just summed up why I have watched this from Day One. The Creators have made many mistakes, but Mesh got this one right.

ETA: (I know this is OT, but) In my experience as a parent, one of the greatest challenges/rewards is the ongoing loss of innocence in your child. You want your child to remain innocent, yet know that they need to gradually lose this to survive in this very tough world. I don't know if Mesh has this as a central them of the IMS, but they are certainly growing as people before our very eyes... Whatever the plot line plays out as far as the "Cult", one of the reasons many people chose to home school their children is to try and preserve this innocence. Sometimes to an extent that it may hurt them when they enter the real world. I have seen this first hand.

in my opinion, this gemma person is just more fanfic. she adds nothing new to the storyline, and jumps off with old video information, just like the paul and andrea video.

It took a repeated viewing for me to get that this was an homage to the loss she feels. I think it was right on target, although not obvious on the first view...

Maybe I'm confused, but if she was part of it, wouldn't she have lonelygirl15 on her top 8 instead of jess rose? I mean, obviously she is friends with them, but maybe her video isn't actually part of it. Or, maybe she's just showing us the way to be interactive with the story while not actually being a part of it.
