No matter how this whole saga plays out, I can say that I learned a whole hell of a lot of stuff following this little mystery.
Here are some of the things/people/subjects I learned:
1. that WiKi exists and that it is a great source of material 2. that Thelema exists 3. how misunderstood non-traditional religions are in mainstream america (and elsewhere, i am sure) 4. Johari Window Theory (very cool) 5. ARGs - did not know they existed 6. About dissecting audio files - not an expert, but definitely interesting to follow the threads about the cassie audio 7. Turing and Reverse Turing tests 8. How to track an IP address
What have you learned about or been exposed to that NEVER would have entered your life without this little mystery?

I learned that not everyone on the internet is a cocknose. Some of the people are quite nice,
I also learnt about the whol ARG gaming scene. I also learnt that people still practice these 'weird' religions. It also confounded my thoughts on taking things as what that might first seem.
EDIT: Oh and I also learnt how to look at the internet all day at work wothout being caught. Genius.

EDIT: Oh and I also learnt how to look at the internet all day at work wothout being caught. Genius. LOL! Here's a tip... If your company firewall blocks out those occult sites (necessary research, of course...), use Babelfish as a proxy server. That was a real gem of a find. Made me the office hero for a day.

I learned that alternative forms of entertainment and marketing are always evolving.
I learned that people believe that adherence to obscure, irrelevant and silly semi-religions/cults is far more common than it actually is. Actually, I re-learned this one, really.
I learned that people on some 'net communities are far too concerned with believing that an entertaining bit of video diversion is REAL, moreso than finding this bit of video entertaining.
In other words, I'm baffled as to how people learning that LG15 is a scripted plot makes them feel betrayed and angry, yet many of these people may tune in to "Two and a Half Men" on a weekly basis for entertainment.

Well this is more regarding gift than learning, but it was really nice to have entertainment that was so intriguing and clean! I hope they keep it that way because it'll maximize their fan base (and also it's refreshing).
Uhm, as for the learning part: google cache is as good as it is evil, haha.

I just learned something new: the terminolgy IC and OOC meaning "in character" and "out of character." Although, apparently, the filmmakers also need to study up on this.

i've learned (re-learned!) that people will be suprised (re-suprised) at stuff they've already seen done before and will call it new.

I learned:
1) You can become good friends with people you have never met 2) MySpace is incredibly insecure 3) Despite my own reservations, my voice my not be all that bad. 4) People actually say things other than ‘a/s/l’ on IRC 5) How to add to a wiki, sort of 6) No matter how hard you hide, someone will always find you on MySpace 7) Amateurs shouldn’t try to run an ARG 8) All the aura and mystic that I had given members of the press was really undeserved 9) What skype is, even though someone never calls me on it 10) A group of people that are all really paranoid and don’t trust each other can still work together and effectively accomplish something. 11) All the aura and mystic that I had given forum mods and admins was really undeserved 12) How to use Joolma, sort of 13) IP tracing is just as easy as I thought it was 14) People really dig a Gilbert and Sullivan parody 15) Indiana Jones may not have fairly and accurately portrayed what cults are really like in Temple of Doom
And finally 16) There are many catfish in this pond
