So I did some reading online and I have a theory regarding iron. Bear with me, this has some long quotations.
In the Gnostic Mass, the central ritual of Thelema, a Priestess uses a sword and evokes ‘The Power of Iron’ to awaken the Priest. The text of the ceremony describes the Priestess: “The PRIESTESS. Should be actually Virgo Intacta or specially dedicated to the service of the Great Order. She is clothed in white, blue, and gold. She bears the Sword from a red girdle , and the Paten and Hosts, or Cakes of Light .”
Virgo Intacta means intact virgin, obviously. Sounds like our Bree.
Here’s the actual ritual: “The PRIESTESS, the negative child on her left, the positive child on her right, ascends the steps of the High Altar. They await her below. She places the Paten before the Graal. Having adored it, she descends, and with the children following her, the positive next her, she moves in a serpentine manner involving 3 circles of the Temple. (Deosil about altar, widdershins about font, deosil about altar and font, widdershins about altar, and so to the Tomb in the West.) She draws her Sword and pulls down the Veil therewith.
The PRIESTESS: By the power of Iron, I say unto thee, Arise. In the name of our Lord the Sun, and of our Lord ... that thou mayst administer the virtues to the Brethren."
Ok, so if that's not interesting enough, a Thelemic workshop described online is called: “By the power of Iron.” Here’s the description: "This presentation focuses on the power of female sexuality and how through time, woman, because of her hormonal cycle, has always held a powerful position. We will explore the power of her blood, her milk, and her vaginal fluids, how they have formed her river of history, and how women have learned to accept and wield this power that their body provides. From birth through menopause, this continual flowing of her fluids becomes the fountain of life, perpetually fulfilling her role as the Holy Chalice for mankind; yet ever remaining a mystery that men will never know themselves."
Ok, so, all a little weird. BUT what if the Iron pills and the shot are a reminder of the role that Bree will play in the Gnostic mass. If she has become symbolically impure, due to the sneaking out and associating with boys, she might need her feminine “Iron power” rejuvenated. This seems like a very LITERAL interpretation of a symbolic idea, but it would connect together some seemingly disparate threads.
