That's incredible. I said here how milo's blog was worthy of Virginia and now there it is! I also love her writing skills to muse on the most interesting things in high-faluten language such as milo's name. I guess you had e-mailed her about this issue? That's great she used it! yeah, i emailed her, just the link, right after i posted it. i didn't expect to see her use it, though. since this may be the pinnacle of my blogging success, i just wanted to say thanks to all who have encouraged/cajoled me to post about this. jayhenry, exilir, hyemew, flwright, oic, and many others. thanks.

I go away and now you guys have another great thread I could have been drinking to. Ok first things first I am back but how much is still up to my job. Second how come steph gets a nice plead from Milo and I get cussed out by the guy for not posting in ages. I have not watched LG in some time is she still 16 or have they dropped all ties to what they use to be. I have never been able to watch a smooch video all the way threw. Sorry I was gone so long had to save an island full of natives from giant spiders from dimension X

. Sorry I was gone so long had to save an island full of natives from giant spiders from dimension X ZOMG! We finally have an "expert" adventurer to help unravel the Gaylien Conspiracy theory. Slainte and I are pretty good with the theorizing (and the drinking) , but we actually are not very smart... Milo helps out, when he's not making phemale phorumites (and Big Media types) swoon with his mad blogging skillz. We need another intrepid soul to join us in the sarcasm and absurdity trenches. I think you are just the man for the job. Welcome back my friend. Yeah Doc! (Can you resurrect your original avatar? I loved that show as a kid and it made me smile every time I saw it, fond memories.)

There's a 700 subscriber gap between the top 20 list's numbers (updates less often) and smosh's userpage (much more accurate), while a 26 member difference between lg's. Their unstoppable.
But seriously, what the hell is accounting for this? Smosh and LG used to get 100 to 200 subscribers per top 20 update, suddenly smosh is getting 700?? What has changed about youtube that number 1 channel, which never used to get this extreme rate of subscribers, suddenly is? Even stranger I don't see a real change in the number of views, as their latest one has the typical (for them and formerly LG) low 300k-range views after a week. Being on the top 20 can certainly be ruled out as NONE of those others on it get anywhere close, while meanwhile since the top channel is kept on par with two others it is not like the top channel even gets a special sort of billing. So what we have is this equation of: No increased views for the latest video + extremely high rate of subscribers = ? My best guess for the answer to this equation would be some sort of special treatment being given to smosh's channel (the feature is no longer on the main page so it is not that, and features rarely bring in large numbers of subscribers strangely enough). My best guess is it looks like a case of the sign-up page features, which notoriously catapulted miaarose to her number 3 spot. These subscribers who sign up through that often never even watch a single video (which I think is what caused a lot of the "miaarose was cheating users!" explanation- frankly I can't imagine anyone cheating tens of thousands of subscribers (unless a bot can which I doubt?) since it is quite a monumental task. While they bring in no new views, and frankly more often than not little if any new fans either, being sign-up page featured skyrockets your number of subscribers so I think in fact that is what's going on.
Anyone care to sign-up and find out? I can't imagine any other explanation, as this kind of youtube-channel precedent busting happening naturally just isn't likely at all. Something is up.

I hadn't signed up, so I'm now at the PooTube with username owenIC (oweniscool was taken, lol). Anyway, it offered some "popular" channels, but smosh was not one of them. I don't know if they cycle through offered channels, perhaps smosh comes up sometimes. Anyway, here's what they urged me to subscribe to: Wow, that math tutoring one sounds fun! ETA: Wasn't Paulmark18 featured like this for some time? I think I remember seeing some discussion about this, but I'm not sure of the details or how much it helped their subscription numbers.

Ahh... so there goes my sign-up explanation. I don't know if I'm glad (because them being featured by youtube would only show utterly reinforce the existence of the cabal) or mad because now I have utterly no idea how they are skyrocketing subscribers (but not views far as we can tell!), and are of course breaking youtube precedent by which a couple months ago smosh and lg15 would both gain 100-200 new ones each update. YouTube has always been popular so it makes no sense for it to rise so much higher, but then again we need continued research on their average number of subscribers.
And yes Paulmark18 was actually sign-up featured, and as always our crack team of investigators (terry and milo, I would include Jay but he wasn't here at the time) monitored the number of subscribers over that period of time. It was a total of like 1800 for two days, so 900 a day which give or take is what smosh is currently experiencing (I'd say the top 20 updates every day or so, not exactly sure or when it will next). They also noticed that Paulmark videos barely got any new views because of this publicity though- which seems to imply most people sign up but never actually do anything, often they never even view any videos period.

i corresponded with 3604LIFE via youtube to ask of her attraction to the Smosh. her reply:
"Um,well i saw these guys on youtube and i watched the "Spedrman,Spiderman" one and oh my gosh these guys were hilarious! so i kept on and on and on watching their videos and finally i typed in smosh in Google and i went to their website and registered and now im a full-fledged fan of smosh and thank you for asking! God Bless"
so, it appears that loving smosh is some kind of viral infection, i think.

Haha it certainly isn't a bacteria, those can be killed, it's a damn virus! Which apparently affects their ability to spell Spedrman. Which is a further example that smosh appeals to the lowest common denomenator. I think it'd be very interesting if you similarly made contact and asked questions to the people who subscribed at the same time as 360. I want to know if they all really just stumbled upon it in droves as it appears 360 did, and you never know if calculations and youtube might have been off a bit and actually another fan in that same vicinity was actually the one who broke the lonelygirl's back!

My hubby saw your avatar on myspace, and is feeling envious. He said "You're friends with the descendents?!?!??!!"

So, milo, are you THE milo auckerman of descendents fame? My hubby saw your avatar on myspace, and is feeling envious. He said "You're friends with the descendents?!?!??!!" Well, according to the all-knowing oracle -- Milowent: Some suspect he is Miles Beckett, others that he is famous singer Milo Aukerman, yet others that he had a role in the assassinations of both John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy. In all likelihood, the truth lies somewhere in between.

(with the added "c" for creators). unfortunately, i am neither. So, I'll just let jon be jealous (and think I'm the coolest wife around) i won't tell. if he thinks the descendents are cool, he must be pretty cool himself.

The conversation went like this: "You're friends with the descendents!?" "that's milo." "yeah, miko aukerman the singer for the descendents." "no, milowent from lonelygirl15 message boards." "oh." Then, when I saw your name on Virginia's blog, it rang a bell. Jon made me look at pictures of the descendents on their website, and geeked out a bit.
