I watched all their episodes. I give them points for production value, presentation of the site, acting, and some of the writing. It's definitely a more professional production than other IMS's I've seen. My main complaint is that the story is too broken up time-wise. Instead of 80 1.5 minute videos stretched over 4 months, I'd rather watch more at one time, since each chunk doesn't move it that far along, and with so many characters, it's already hard enough to keep track of without breaking up the flow. I barely had the patience to watch all that I did, and I didn't feel rewarded after I sat through them. That said, I think they are on the right track in terms of a quality look that we normally associate with tv.

I'm about half way throught this series but really enjoying it. I think I disagree about the timing, as it was never intended to be watched 50 episodes at a time, but rather one a day. People new to LG probably feel that the pacing is confusing too, but that's because they're not watching it the way it was originally staggered.
The site has its own quiet little forum. Sorta like lonelygirl15.com in early August. If enough people here are interested Sam7 we ought to just invite their forum to the Cove.

I've watched the 1st 10 episodes. This is good stuff, TV-drama quality in 90 second installments, and with very high production values. These videos are also posted on youtube, but the channel only has 228 subscribers so far. I would say it deserves it own subboard here. www.youtube.com/profile?user=SamHas7Friends

I love that the story is being told virtually without exposition.

I love that the story is being told virtually without exposition. Oh, yeah, me too! ummmm. .. after I looked up what exposition was. before that i just thought "its duh, different than LG15." exposition 1. Explanation of the story line in a drama told by a narrator, announcer, or one of the characters.

Okay, Jay - good idea. So, by Saturday morning we can start to discuss? Maybe start a new thread for the series calling out the fact that it contains spoilers? I need until end of day Friday to get through them all.

Nice the show gets it's own slot. The production values on this show are great and I hope a trend coming to more IMS. That yes looking like a home made video is all fine and good but it would not kill you to look better.

Wow. This is really a great series. I sped through the first 25 episodes and then (sigh) had to get back to work. The character bios at www.samhas7friends.com actually really help you figure out the characters - I kept getting Dani and Sam confused at first. Can't wait for the conversations to start tomorrow! I hope I can remember the few things that really stuck out to me...

A quick note that will hopefully lead to a more detailed (thread?) discussion about IMS in general:
Loved the fact that I can subscribe via iTunes and AUTOMATICALLY have my machine download the eps whilst at work. No fuss, no muss.
So:
Is this the best way to deliver an IMS at the current time? i.e. via iTunes or a clone that allows the (busy!!!) end user to painlessly dl the content and have it waiting for them vs. having to ACTIVELY go to a URL and constantly check for updates, a la LG? I have about ten news related podcasts that operate this way and I can cull those I can I do not have the time or interest to pursue.
It seems to me that the delivery mechanism is an important aspect that warrants further discussion.

George - I'm with you. Love that I can have it download to ITunes automatically with my other podcasts.

Hi Gang, It is just me, or do you feel like Patrick when watching Sam instead of Bree? This is fun to watch, but more like TV than IMS. It’s well produced, the acting is good, and everyone loves murder. The Revver mode is a bit tedious when you are trying to catch up with all the episodes. As CuriousGeorge and BaileysMom have discovered, the delivery of Podcasts can make all the difference. YouTube remains at the top when it comes to almost instantaneous video goodness. Now for the important points, in Episode 18 (9/20/2006) Willie gets a text message from Lonelygirl15, who wants to have a “head shot” photo session. Just imagine how good JR looks sneezing and yawning, and the patterns the bedspread would make on her back! In Episode 48 (11/1/2006) Sam calls Mary “Lonelygirl21". Only four more years, Bree! Exposition, you want exposition??? How about a homepage that says: “Samantha Breslow has seven friends. On December 15, 2006, one of them will kill her. 41Days. 21Hours 9Min 8Sec < edit> 9Min 4Sec< edit> ,< edit> 8Min 55Sec< edit>, < edit> Aw, heck I give up!< edit> Off to Work! FLWright

I just watched all 51 episodes straight, so please forgive what I'm about to ask: Did anyone else feel like they were watching 51 trailers for a really lame movie? Perhaps it's the general feel of the new medium, but this series feels like watching highlights of Melrose Place. I never really watched MP, so I'm not saying that's a bad thing. On a different level, I'm fascinated with how they have managed to create a relatively coherent story using all of the various vignettes. It's been years since I studied film so I can't remember the actual term (it could simply be mise en scene, but I'm not sure), but it reminded me of the idea in film of using disparate or seemingly unrelated images at various points (perhaps as foreshadowing), then all off these images come together to form a loose, almost subconscious, narrative. See Krzysztof Kieślowski's STUNNING film Red (in the Three Colors series) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Colors:_Red_%28movie%29. Exposition, you want exposition??? How about a homepage that says: “Samantha Breslow has seven friends. On December 15, 2006, one of them will kill her. 41Days. 21Hours 9Min 8Sec < edit> 9Min 4Sec< edit> ,< edit> 8Min 55Sec< edit>, < edit> Aw, heck I give up!< edit> flwright's comment makes the whole thing even more interesting because the future murder of Sam seems to be the only thread tying the whole thing together. In Red, we really don't need a thread for the elements because the film itself is so visually beautiful, we know virtually everything is symbolic, and we are eventually paid off. In Sam's case, the website's statement offers up the payoff for watching these loosely connected videos at the beginning and keeps us thinking about clues or symbols. Now, I'm not trying to suggest that Sam has 7 friends is anywhere even on the same planet as Red, but it has made me think of the IMS medium in a wholly different way. I probably wouldn't watch the show if it was on TV, but I can appreciate what they are trying to do. So, who's gonna kill Sam and why?
