Something remarkable happened at the Cove yesterday -- almost everyone agreed about something. Sadly, and although we still disagree about exactly when it happened, everyone now believes that Lonelygirl15 has reached the point of no return, Jumped the Shark, Put-Duffy-in-the-shower.
The question is, "where now?" And we don't mean for Bree and Daniel. What do we do with the Cove?
We have an intelligent, respectful and diverse community here at the Cove, but over the last couple weeks we've been losing a lot of motivation. And, we've been losing a lot of good posters too. Nobody really wants to leave, but the quality of the lonelygirl15 storyline isn't enough to keep people here.
So, rather than disband, let's refocus. One of the things we all talk about a lot is how lonelygirl15 fits into and will influence the infancy of the Internet Mini-Series. We're all into watching fiction on our computers. We're all waiting for the next great show to come along.
What does everyone think? We've started to do this a little with the NoHoGirls and Katers, and, of course we're not talking about abandoning our roots following and commenting on LG, but how do we switch our focus and make this a success? Since this is a community, let's all put our ideas on the table. Please, everyone, share your thoughts!

I think we have to play it by ear and see what develops. As new series come out, people can bring them up in the "other media" section. For my part, I'll try to do this more. If something gets really popular, it can get it's own section, but nothing has quite emerged like that yet.
I think the fact that this is known as "The Children of Anchor Cove" is fitting even if discussion veers away from LG, because it was LG that spawned the discussion and (some of the new series) and brought us together. Even if some lose interest in LG, it is like you say, our roots.
Also, some have suggested that we as a group make our own IMS. And while everyone seems to like the idea, no one's sure just how to do it. I have never been into role playing games, but is there a way that we could each be responsible for our own character that exists in a "Cove" universe. We each set up a YouTube account for our character to post to. Give our character a myspace. (I know, you're thinking how is that different from normal? ha!) We wouldn't have to fool anyone into thinking it's real. The problem I can easily foresee with this, is if LG is having issues with canon and fanon and possible retcon and planning, there's no way we'd be able to keep it straight with a dozen people pulling the story in a dozen different directions. It would be chaos, without some rules in place, and I don't know what those rules would be.
I don't know...these are just some thoughts...

I think that we have been involved with something special here at the Cove. We would like it to continue even though the impetus for this community appears to be really flaking out on us.
One of the hardest things in life to accept is when people/things do not (and may never...) live up to our perceptions of their potential and our resultant expectations. Sometimes they just don't.
I suggest we all do some research (that's what we all do best now dammit!) and look for ways to continue. In the interim, I hope that we don't resort to more sniping at each other, even though I realize it is just our collective frustration speaking.

I'll still stick around, even though I don't post much. I still check in everyday.
It wouldn't be so bad if they maybe released a video a day. I know that doesn't build up too much suspense, but it will keep people somewhat interested.
I think we should continue recommending other youtube videos, and maybe have a separate spot to discuss non-LG15 vids (is there one already? I haven't really checked).

Well.. As far as I'm concerned I'm going nowhere.. I like this way too much to let it go.. I think I'd love to talk to you guys even if it was about the weather.. There is a sort of magic creativity in the interaction between the people gathered in this strange "family".. I like that feeling and I love thinking I may be part of it (If I'm not don't tell me.. My heart would break in a million pieces.. Just let me be a! ;D)
I don't have any options in mind at this time but I'm sure we'll find a quest worthy of our skills.
Right now I have just one thing in mind: I'm here because of you guys not because of LG15.. So don't go anywhere, I'd miss you too much!

I'd agree with kind of condensing down the lg15 stuff into one forum and then expanding out sections for other groups. Kind of like what we do now, one thread per group, and then if they get big make it into a forum. Sort of like over at the unforums.
I'll admit that I've lost alot of interest in lg15. I try to read through all the threads, but it has more to do with what y'all are saying and less to do with the subject....if that makes sense?

Anyone finding other IMS (internet mini series) or other great internet videos can currently post their finds in the "Other Media" section of this board. alissabrooke.proboards56.com/index.cgi?board=mediathat's where NoHoGirls and Katers17 are found at the moment.

I still enjoy LG too, but I'd like to see more discussion of other attempts at the form. Now that discussion on LG has simmered down to only a couple active threads, it seems like we could use some reorganization, or maybe even a fresh board, in which LG plays a more size-appropriate role.
Recaps of the important topics, or some better way of organizing the information (if you're new to this forum, you could never catch up on the 8000 posts) could really be useful.

Well, I'm sorry I let you all down then. ( ... wrufff, nuzzles up close to Alissa ... ) you've not let us down, no LG15 just an early experiment, that could have worked. Youve created a community, that's not going anywhere but foward I like the idea of a new world, where we all tell our own story, that's real and engaging. It's dynamic and changing as the story gets told and fleshed out, like a wikipedia, but rather a storypedia. And I get to hide the meaning of life with my bones, grrrrr woof, finally a new adventure is brewing ... ( ... a very excited pup jumps up and yaps like crazy ... ) ( ... buka's ghost whispers in a crazed scottish sailors drawl " yaaar all darn your sock now before i clap you in irons, thundering typhoons, de cove lives on!!! ... ) please excuse my master, he's just a bit crazed right now, and thinks he's timewarped back into some pirate adventure game modules he found in the study. anyways, i'll shnaaarwf around the house and see what i can find to cheer Alissa up ( ... wet lick to the nose, and aisha wags her tail and turns to run back down the hall to find masterG ... )

On the surface it seems to be dismissive to everyone who is unhappy with the state of LG15 now. Do I need to find a video of that overenthusiastic Howard Dean speech and watch it again to blunt this bizarre reaction to your comment? Or do I just need a nap? You mens kept me up so late I only got three and a half hours of sleep last night.
