What's to stop anyone from making fake installments? How will we know? I was thinking about that too. I hope they will put all the video's on the LG15.com site so we at least know what we should be watching and what other people are just making up. I am so suspicious of just about everyone. I am pretty sure there are "fake" users on both forums. A few I really think are here to take us off the right or wrong path. Like on the other forum today there was 3 new users with super high post number in just a few hours. One posted that the road is only 10 minutes from my house. Then not long after looking for someone with a camera, about 15 to 20 minutes. We are leaving. Was that posted to keep people from going out there because the bag is not really there? They have already taped and working on editing? Do they really have time to tape it and edit on one day? Or are they taping it today??

There def are people working the boards. So, um...does that mean that we don't trust the 10.12.04 thing?
edit: I suppose there's no way to know, eh? but if that was 2004 and this is 2006 and the fire (while performing some ritual) was 2002 (labor day weekend) that's every 2 years. Perhaps they've been trying to do this ritual since 2000?
How do we verify the myspace?

The MySpace "Cassie" doesn't even have permission to embed the original Cassie video.
He also registered two days after the YouTube Cassie.
The MySPace guy was just an imposter having fun until he got caught.

It would be nice if the people running "the show" would at least come out and say when something is *not* part of the production. For example, there are still people talking about the Danielbeast myspace account as being real over on the official forums. Ironically, Hyemew actually posted on the Jess Rose Myspace that it was him.
I'm just a little worried about people running off to secluded parts of the woods on the whim of some videographer. What if someone gets lost, drowns, or two people get into a fight over the bag? Most ARG's that have people going off to places don't send people into areas that are dangerous. I guess what I'm saying is that, if this is becoming an ARG with real world participation, the creators need to realize that a lot of people vested in the story haven't been involved in anything like this before, a lot of them are young, and they should be eased into things.
I also agree that they need to put videos in the canon up on the official site to avoid any fakery.

I think the creators expect us to be smart enough to at least figure out the OBVIOUS fakes.
And we should always be suspicious of MySpace accounts.
If something is posted to the lonelygirl15 account at YouTube, it's from lonelygirl15. But the lonelygirl15 account at MySpace is a known fake.
Same with the danielbeast account at MySpace. And the same thing with the fake cassieiswatching account at MySpace.
We just have to be vigilant about calling out the fakers. There will be more and more of them.
The "cassieiswatching" account at YouTube had all sorts of evidence tying it to LG15 - mainly original video shot at the "Swimming!" locations, and very specific directions and images of those locations. I don't know how they could have sent a better message of authenticity than that.
On the other hand, the fake MySpace "Cassie" guy had a good run today just by setting up a fake profile that had NO evidence tying it to "cassieiswatching" at YouTube. People have to stop being so gullible.

I shouldn't have to ask this, but since you're not being very forthcoming...what exactly is it that you disagree with, and why? I'm not a mind reader. I don't know that I've ever had anyone disagree with me "tons" before.

you: It would be nice if the people running "the show" would at least come out and say when something is *not* part of the production.
me: I disagree. We'll be just fine.
you: I'm just a little worried about people running off to secluded parts of the woods on the whim of some videographer. What if someone gets lost, drowns, or two people get into a fight over the bag? Most ARG's that have people going off to places don't send people into areas that are dangerous.
me: free speech doesn't foist any sort of responsibility on the speaker beyond that of the clear and present danger principle. none of what you mention would amount to a CLEAR and PRESENT danger.
you: I guess what I'm saying is that, if this is becoming an ARG with real world participation, the creators need to realize that a lot of people vested in the story haven't been involved in anything like this before, a lot of them are young, and they should be eased into things.
me: we've all been involved in watching TV at one point or another in our lives, even the young. but thanks for the paternalistic attittude...i'm sure you'd make a great republican!
you: I also agree that they need to put videos in the canon up on the official site to avoid any fakery.
me: sit back and enjoy the ride, kemosabe.

I would make a good republican if I wanted to be one, that's just how I roll.
If you want to see this thing die a death quicker than Cassie, just let the creators keep on ignoring anything that isn't part of the canon. People will get sick of it, and fast. The creators can keep everything on track simply by linking to the videos on the official site. Not that difficult.

Whatever, man, as far as I'm concerned (and I know I'm not the only one) this cassie thing is way cooler than the Bree thing at the moment. Who cares if its someone else? I guess we'll have to find out!
Handholding is boring. The mystery is the exciting part of this whole thing. Now that the "who's behind it?" part is gone, they have to keep up the rest. If it's just a TV show with no mystery behind it, I personally will probably stop caring.

Plumpy (cute name!) : I agree--I enjoyed LG15 but if they're going to go all-out ARG in this Cassie thing I think I'll enjoy this a heck of a lot more!

Myspace Cassie added danielbeast as friend, therefore they are not in on it and are a random person.
See, having him is still helpful.

He was talking about this becoming an ARG with real world participation, from what I understand, which means that point was valid as not everyone has participated in such a thing before.
