 i am jack
« Thread Started on Aug 28, 2007, 7:50am »

Hello, I am Jack. I joined here a few days ago I guess and decided to stay because its more manageable for me to digest, and because the lonelygirl15.com forums, as the young kids like to say, "sucks big balls."

I have to imagine I am the oldest lonelygirl15 fan in the world. Geriatric1927 (I think you would know him?) would beat me if he is actually a fan. I watch the videos from a public computer in the common room here, and, as you can imagine, I get some strange looks from people. But they think I am crazy for even using the Internet.

I hope I can contribute meaningfully to this nice community. I am meaning to watch some of the other shows you have talked about here. Would I like these "NoHoGirls"? Or what else should I sample?

Jack.

Welcome aboard Jack. You know, I would think it is a good thing that the others think you are mad for using the internet - it just frees it up more for you! :) I am impressed that you watched the whole Lonelygirl series in such a short amount of time. :o That's some stamina!

I would suggest watching Prom Queen. It is produced by former Disney CEO Michael Eisner. It has just finished up its first season, and is now starting with the second season. This series has its own sub-forum here, so have a look through. There aren't as many episodes to get through as Lonelygirl though, thank goodness! And you will find that in addition to the main videos, the characters of the series have their own blogs and video blogs on myspace, but you don't have to watch them to follow the story.

I find Lonelygirl and Prom Queen the easiest to follow. Maddison Atkins/15Over15 are also worth watching, though it can get a little complicated as it is an Alternate Reality Game (ARG), but it is very well produced and does not lack narrative quality what-so-ever. They do well to still have it make sense for the viewers who don't necessarily play the game and solve the puzzles.

You will also find that quite a few of the creators of these series like to post here occasionally including Paul who is behind the NoHos, Jeremy who is behind Maddison, Glenn who is behind OpAphid and Mesh from Lonelygirl just joined here recently too.

Anyway, hope that helps you. I have enjoyed your contribution so far and look forward to more from you. :)

Thank you Elixir and Flautapantera. (Boy my name is mundane? I should have told my parents that.)

Exilir, I watched most of it over a few days time. I may be old (young at heart though), but TV watching is a well-honed skill here (though many simply use it as excuse to sleep outside their room). The computers here are most often used for people to brag about pictures of their grandkids, etc.; god forbid people mail pictures anymore.

I will try the PromQueen, though myspace is one place I fear. My grandson has told me stories about how people can scammed using that. It sounds like an intriguing new way to tell a good story. Thanks.

Jack, let me add my welcome, and reassure you that my mother (b. 1933) is navigating Myspace very safely since I dragged her on there last month. Just don't befriend anyone you don't know and you should be fine. The little icon under my avatar pic that looks like a house is a link to my Myspace, check it out.

Age-wise, I'm my early 50's, and Slainte and a few others aren't far behind. Thanks for making me not quite the oldest one here :-)

Thank you Suze900. I may try the Myspace, I am not really sure of what it is though. I did read that Jessica Rose was "exposed" through her myspace.

Age is just a number, really. I try that tactic to get a non-jello like piece of meat here, but it has not worked so far.

Good luck with MySpace. For some reason, I just find it really, really hard to use. It's just a huge mess to me so I rarely ever use it. But maybe it's just me. Basically, what it is, is a social networking site, so you sign up and you get your own personal profile and then you share the address with friends and you can all talk to each other on there, and share videos, pictures etc etc.

I'm actually finding Bebo much easier to use. It is similar to MySpace, but it is smaller and more straight forward. I signed up there to watch Kate Modern, as did a lot of us here. So in in that way too, it's good to keep up with that series. http://www.bebo.com/

But with both Prom Queen and Kate Modern, well they both end up on YouTube anyway, so that's another option for watching these series.
